The DePauw Phi 2 G reetings, everyone! The past summer and fall have been quite busy for the Chapter, with many exciting developments taking place. à Bringing Home the Hardware We are proud to share that our Chapter has recently earned five new awards from General Headquarters, a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence of our members. • First, we were honored with the Silver Star, placing us in the top 50% of all chapters nationwide. We also earned an award for excellence in recruitment, recognizing three consecutive years of increased recruitment numbers. • Additionally, we achieved the distinction of being the No. 1 Chapter in size on campus. • We were further recognized for academic excellence, marking our first GPA increase of over 0.3 since my fellow seniors and I joined the house. • Lastly, we received an award for outstanding efforts in risk prevention, demonstrating our commitment to the safety and well-being of our members. These achievements underscore the dedication and resilience of our Chapter, and we are incredibly proud of our members' continued hard work and success. à Sports in Full Swing Football is currently undefeated with a top 10 ranking; our defense is properly stacked, and several Phis are littered across the field. The offense is just as strong with our #84 on the outside and an upcoming sophomore running back on the bump. The soccer team is currently 9-4-4 and looking to make an NCAC conference final appearance. Led by senior Alex Backhaus '26, we have a slew of sophomores who have made an immediate impact on the team by becoming strong leaders. à Making Time for Others The men have also been engaged in various philanthropic activities. One of our favorites was connecting with Steph and Tim. Tim had been diagnosed with ALS and asked the boys of Indiana Zeta if we could help with some chores around the house. Our brothers attended to the house and assisted wherever we could. Steph and Tim were kind enough to share their home with us and feed us all at the same time! I think I speak for our entire house when I say it is truly inspiring to see how Tim lives with this disease one day at a time. Steph is also a one-of- a-kind woman who has made challenging sacrifices to care for her loved one. This was an amazing experience, and I truly hope we can visit their incredible property again soon. à One Semester to Go… My and my fellow seniors' time as a member of Phi Delta is dwindling, with alumni status on the horizon. We are all sad to be departing from our little slice of heaven tucked away in Greencastle. I can only thank past members and alumni who have been in contact with me and the Chapter for my three years. I know I speak for the seniors when I say the walk down Anderson Street will never fade out of my memory. Through all the insane things that happen at this house, I would never trade the time for anything. Yours in the Bond, Hudson Mosher '25 Chapter President Strategic Plan Update You may recall in past issues of The DePauw Phi that we undertook the process of developing a strategic plan for both the Chapter and alumni volunteers. Part of that was having the undergraduates develop their own Mission and Vision Statement: Mission The mission of Phi Delta Theta- Indiana Zeta is to provide an inclusive environment for men at DePauw to form strong bonds with other men of diverse backgrounds, interests, and personalities—bonds that help them to learn from each other, push them to achieve success in their endeavors, and develop into lifelong friendships. Vision Our vision is to demonstrate what it means to the best Fraternity at DePauw by excelling in academics, campus leadership, and athletics. We will continue to be a strong Chapter and focus on continued growth, support for our members, and maintenance of our Chapter home. We will grow the Fraternity by continuing to recruit well- balanced classes of outstanding men who will leave the Fraternity better than they found it. We will support the development of our members by engaging more alumni brothers in ways that are meaningful to them and help individual active members pursue their goals. We will provide a house for our members that facilitates the development of a strong brotherhood, and that we can be proud to call our home. Values Friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude. As you can see, the men take seriously their rightful position on campus as one of the strongest and most durable fraternities. We hope you remain proud to be a DePauw Phi!
