e Crimson Crescent GAMMA PHI BETA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA • FALL 2024 HI, EPSILON LAMBDA SISTERS! I hope you're having a fantas c fall. The AHC has been hard at work planning house improvements, preparing housing contracts for the 2025-26 school year, and making necessary upgrades to our home. We worked with the collegiate board members to send our contracts the last week of September. Students are signing leases earlier than ever, but we're grateful that the Gamma Phi chapter house remains a desirable place to live! We also had our first major maintenance project at 780 Bryant this summer when the HVAC chiller went out. Thanks to our solid financial posi on, we were able to have a new chiller installed just in me for the women to move in at the end of July. We also bought a new commercial printer, replaced the cushions on the outdoor furniture, and had several parts of the house deep cleaned, including the chapter room. Not all projects are glamorous, but some are certainly necessary—especially in the Tuscaloosa heat! I'm pleased to share that thanks to your contribu ons to our 35 For 35 campaign, we were able to provide two more women with AHC scholarships for the fall semester. These are truly excep onal members who have met specific grade- and involvement- related criteria and are extremely grateful for the assistance. Our goal is to award at least two scholarships per semester; we could not do this without you! If you're willing to contribute to future scholarships, please see dona on details on page 4. Lastly, by the me you receive this, our Homecoming tailgate will have taken place. A hear elt thank you to all who joined us! It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and celebrate our me at Alabama and as Gamma Phis. We hope you had a fantas c me! In IIKE, Audrey Herndon '14 AHC Vice President elahcboard@gmail.com A Unique Opportunity Our Chapter Advisor's Final Update M y name is Caitlyn Hearn Biddle '11, and I have proudly served as chapter advisor since 2019. As a collegian, I was PACE chairwoman, ritual chairwoman, and then EVP. I a ended graduate school in Huntsville before moving to Atlanta, and I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist working in an outpa ent clinic in Madison, Ala. When I began my journey as a volunteer, I started as EVP advisor and then became president of the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter before accep ng the chapter advisor role. The pandemic made this especially challenging, but the sisterhood I was privileged to witness in that me was truly special. The way our women cared for one another was inspiring and truly what our sisterhood is all about. There were laughs, tears, and late-night calls. My favorite thing about being chapter advisor, and volunteering in general, is connec ng with our collegians and learning from them. As volunteers, we are in a unique posi on to lead but also serve, which is a delicate balance. I con nue to cherish the difficult conversa ons that have helped me grow and challenged my thinking. I especially admire the women of Epsilon Lambda for their dedica on to doing what is right. If our members see something that misses the mark, they are not afraid to stand up and provide construc ve cri cism to make things be er for everyone. I look forward to the day my legacies run home to the best house on the row. Thank you from the bo om of my heart to everyone who worked with me and supported me as advisor. I cherish our me together and will always remain true and constant. I know without a shadow of a doubt that our chapter is in amazing hands with Lauren Whi en Hock '09 and Megan Whi en '11, and I cannot wait to see what amazing things they do!
