Remembering Mike "Doc" Sause '70 I t is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Michael H. Sause on September 3, 2024 in Baton Rouge, LA, his home of over 50 years. Brother Sause was surrounded by his wife of 53 years, Maureen, their daughters Casey and Nicole, son Michael, and their families. Mike graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, OH. He swam for The Ohio State University as a freshman and graduated with Brother Peter Peirce '71 in 1971. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army and assigned to Ft. Benning, GA for active duty. Mike, for 30 consecutive years, was our largest donor and benefactor to the Peter R. Peirce/John W. Galbreath Memorial Scholarship Golf Classic, to support our three OSU undergraduate Delt Scholarships. The Peirce/Galbreath Scholarship Fund is managed by the National Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation in Fishers, IN. A separately-named Sause Fund has been established to honor and recognize Mike and his dedicated commitment to the values of his fraternity and…"The Education of Youth & The Inspiration of Maturity". Anyone wishing to honor Mike and support his DTD/OSU Scholarship Fund in Michael "Doc" H. Sause's name can send tax-deductible donations to the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation at: 10000 Allisonville Rd Fishers, IN 46038 As the Holiday Season approaches, let us all keep the Sause Family in our hearts and prayers. Please take the time to call someone special in your life and share your love for them! You will be glad you did! Delta Tau Delta page 2 I n 1960, graduates of the College of Commerce, the predecessor to the Fisher College of Business, shared a common interest in encouraging scholarship and leadership. That year, 132 of them united as new business leaders to fund and promote the Pace Setter Award. The first Pace Setter Award ceremony took place in 1961, honoring the college's top business students. Since then, more than 3,300 business students—less than 5% of the business school's alumni population—have earned Pace Setter recognition. Pace Setter Awards celebrate those students who excel both in and out of the classroom and who exemplify the purpose and passion that define Fisher students. They are juniors and seniors who rank among the top of their class and demonstrate exemplary scholarship, leadership, and service to Fisher and the community. Pace Setters exhibit high moral and academic standards and adhere to the University Code of Student Conduct. Recent Pace Setter Award recipient Cole Petch '25 shared, "I currently work as a student ambassador captain at Ohio State's Max M. Fisher College of Business. I started with the program in the spring of my freshman year, and through dedication and hard work, I was promoted to captain at the end of the following semester. In my role, I lead immersive tours, host informative sessions, and hold weekly office hours, welcoming and guiding over 1,000 guests to our college. As captain, I am responsible for interviewing, training, and leading a team of 25 student ambassadors. Together, we complement the efforts of our undergraduate admissions and recruitment team, embodying Fisher's core values and mission across our campus and beyond, connecting with prospective students from all over the world."
