S igEp provided a group of down-to-earth, regular people that Steve Acchione '17 wanted to be around in his college years. They also had a wider variety of perspectives and interests than Steve had observed at other houses, making them a unique spot on the UPenn campus. "Living in the house for three years was such a big part of my college life," Steve said. The Pennsylvania Delta brothers made the most of their time together from studying and weekend hangouts to late-night basketball games and a spring break trip to Cancun. "That time where you can so easily get everyone together is fleeting, so you need to appreciate it while it lasts." Serving as chapter president taught Steve to work directly with his SigEp peers and their varied opinions. "That experience teaches you that your decisions impact everybody, not just the people you spend the most time with or think most similarly to," he explained. "You also learn more about people's individual issues, which shows that you never know what someone else may be going through. Even if you're not in leadership, it's important to try and treat people well—even if they seem hard to deal with." After graduating, Steve began working in capital markets in Philadelphia. He later moved to Boston with the help of some Pennsylvania Delta alumni, who were gracious enough to take his calls and help him get connected. Steve now works in a private credit role in the Boston area, focused on the originations side of the business. Despite living farther apart today, Steve and his brothers do their best to keep in touch. Brothers from his era have made annual trips including skiing and traveling to the Big East Tournament, and his pledge class's fantasy football league is now in its seventh year. "To stay close to your core groups from the house, try to start a recurring trip or other reason to get together," Steve advises. "They're harder to start if you don't do it right away. (Even if you just talk to who you're facing in a given week of fantasy league, it's a good way to keep up!)" Steve enjoys exploring new restaurants and parts of Boston, especially when friends are in the area. In the last year or two, he has taken lessons in Italian and sailing, and he takes weekend trips whenever possible—either around New England or farther down south to visit people.
