This grand piano is the perfect addition to the chapter house. FROM THE HEART A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF INDIANA ALPHA t SIGMA PHI EPSILON t FALL 2024 PURDUESIGEP.ORG A fter more than five years, The Campaign for Indiana Alpha—A New Beginning ended on August 31. It has been a marathon— since starting the campaign in March 2019, we navigated a pandemic, supply chain challenges, and escalating interest rates. Each event protracted our campaign as we worked to manage the renovation and associated budget. We originally set a $1.75 million goal, but thanks to the amazing support of the brotherhood, we achieved our stretch goal of $2 million! As of October 2024, we've received more than $2,030,000, with donations still coming in. Another of the great things about the capital campaign is it has both reengaged and revived the alumni brotherhood. As members reentered the house, each Homecoming brought more brothers back to visit 690 Waldron. Beyond the success of the chapter and their recent rechartering, this may be our greatest accomplishment. Many thanks to the 230 brothers and friends who donated to the capital campaign. Special appreciation is due to Nick Harris '79 ($50,000+), Scott Swisher '79 ($25,000+), Jim Mosch '80 ($25,000+), Ted Hazeldine '65 ($15,000+), and Doug Bowen '93 ($10,000+), who increased their already generous gifts to create a $125,000 matching challenge gift. Also, we thank the brothers who supported the Mom Nonnie challenge to secure naming rights for the house director's suite in her honor. We believe these challenge gifts were a true catalyst in closing our fundraising goal, as several brothers doubled their gift in the final stage of the campaign. Finally, we would like to give special recognition to Tim '77 and Terry '80 Larson for their significant contributions. You may remember that early in the campaign the Larsons agreed to be our general contact contractor and donate their profits. That officially made Tim and Terry our single largest donor! Those closest to the renovation of 690 Waldron know their contributions exceeded their monetary value. In every respect, SigEp is a vital part of Purdue University, and we have ensured that our legacy will endure. Thank you for contributing to the success of Indiana Alpha!
