Not to mention the fact she was familiar with the wonderful memories her older sister, Pat "PJ" Jones Stevens '66, had made. She was confident Omicron Chapter would be the place for her. "Staying was a given—how could you not stay when you were surrounded by women with whom you shared some of life's most momentous experiences?" Marcia cherishes many wonderful moments from her collegiate years and, as an alumna, is thrilled to still be creating new memories. When asked by Val Lawlor '71 to serve as chairwoman of the chapter's 100th anniversary, Marcia jumped at the opportunity, and she asked her sister, Pat, to be her co- chair. It was a huge success, with more than 425 alumnae returning to campus for a weekend of sisterhood and fun, including a few women who had been initiated in the 1940s! "I still hear my sisters talking about it to this day and wish every woman in the chapter could experience an event like this to fully understand that Alpha Phi is not just for four years but for a lifetime," she said. Marcia continues to honor her Alpha Phi membership by supporting the recent capital campaign and serving on the House Corporation Board. "Working on the Centennial Celebration and being on the board gave me a front row seat to the changes in Greek Town and the needs of the house to accommodate this new generation of young women," she said. "It was an easy decision to get involved and encourage others to do the same. I am so proud of our new home and the commitment of so many to make it a reality!" Thirty years ago, Marcia and her husband started Lon Lane's Inspired Occasions, an event planning and catering business in Kansas City. They sold their company in 2019 after being voted the top caterer in Kansas City for 16 straight years. "I was excited to be on the build team for the kitchen and servery in the new house. I loved being involved from the ground up, using my kitchen design and equipment knowledge in the construction of Omicron's new home." When she's not serving Omicron, Marcia is enjoying her retirement filled with travel and time spent with her grandchildren. She loves power tools and taking woodworking classes. To connect with Marcia and hear more about her Alpha Phi connections, send her an email at marcialane1@outlook.com. ALPHA PHI RUNS IN THE FAMILY! Marcia's daughter-in-law is an Alpha Phi from George Washington University. "I love telling the story about the first time I 'met' her," Marcia shared. "Our son sent us a video of Lauren in an Alpha Phi recruitment skit. I learned she was an Alpha Phi and that her name was Lauren, in that order. He knew how to win this mom over!"
