2 Following this fall's formal recruitment, our chapter now has 316 amazing sisters, 116 of whom ran home on Bid Day! Mizzou Panhellenic Council declared the event as the "most successful recruitment" and the fourth-largest formal recruitment ever for our campus. Our "Alpha Phi Yacht Club" themed Bid Day was a fun and joyous occasion and was diligently planned by VP of Member Education Emma Benkendorf '22 and her Bid Day team! We believe these young women will make our sisterhood stronger and brighter, creating a great future for our chapter. At the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year, Alpha Phi was recognized with a number of awards, including Most Improved GPA, the Program Excellence Award, and the Health, Wellness, and Accountability Award. We also were recognized as a Top 10 "Honors Chapter" out of all 33 chapters in Greek life here at Mizzou! This past spring we hosted one of our best Red Dress Galas yet! The Gala is our primary philanthropic event of the year, and it benefits the Alpha Phi Foundation. We had a great turnout of members, parents, alumnae, and other students, and all witnessed a touching personal story from Gabby Stellato '21 about how she had a heart attack during Bid Day, uncovering her own heart condition. It was a great reminder about how common women's heart health issues are. In November, we will host Heart Beat Week, organized by PHA Delegate Colette Roller '22. That week we will host our late-night Mac N' Phis dinner (a profit share at a local Columbia restaurant), our NBAPhi basketball tournament at the Rec Center, and will sell merchandise designed by VP of Marketing Cailey Southard '22. Proceeds from all events will also benefit Alpha Phi Foundation. Sisterhood events are also a focus this semester, especially as we integrate the new members into the chapter. We recently hosted a workout class at Hotworx, an infrared fitness studio, and a line dancing lesson at a local dance studio. In October, our new members and sophomores traveled to St. Louis for our annual sisterhood retreat where they attended a St. Louis Blues hockey game, shopped downtown, and got custom trucker hats and shirts! And finally, throughout the semester, we continue to support other Greek chapters' philanthropies by attending their events, such as late-night dinners.
