K appa Alpha Chapter is off to an amazing start this school year! Thanks to the incredible leadership of VP Recruitment and Marketing Gabi Morris '21, we experienced a seamless recruitment process. With nearly 1,800 PNMs participating, we proudly welcomed 85, reaching both total and quota. EXPANDING THE SISTERHOOD Since Bid Day, VP of Learning and Development Ashley Bacus '21 has guided our newest members through a dynamic and engaging new member period, including an exciting retreat in September that she organized featuring an in-house sleepover and a fun-filled day trip to Seaside Beach. Ashley has also led the Big/Little Sister process and instructed all stage meetings, where new members have been learning all about Kappa Delta's rich history and traditions. Initiation was official on Sunday, October 13. STAYING SOCIAL Our Chapter had plenty of exciting events to start the semester strong! On September 21, we be hosted our annual Parents' Weekend brunch, expertly planned by Kierra Hilts '21, who created a memorable weekend experience. VP of Events and Programming Jaclyn Madson '22 has also been hard at work. She planned some amazing date functions this semester like a social at Bullwinkle's, a joint date night with Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Gamma, and Zeta Tau Alpha, and our much-anticipated semi-formal at the end of the semester. On October 12, we were thrilled to host our annual Color Me KD color run, organized by Director of Philanthropy Victoria Graham '22. This year's event was extra special as we honored our senior class with exclusive hats and introduced an exciting new route around campus that brought our community even closer together! We're excited about the contributions we made to Childrens Home Society (local organization) and Prevent Child Abuse America (national organization). CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT We're proud to announce that Kappa Alpha has the fifth-highest GPA in Panhellenic with an impressive 3.55. This achievement places us above the Panhellenic, all- female, and undergraduate averages. Beyond the Chapter, our members continue to shine by participating in various campus organizations, including Student Government Association, Dance Marathon, Student Boosters, the Honors College, and more. Kappa Alpha is looking forward to a productive and successful conclusion to the semester. With our new member class, fantastic events, and strong academic standing, we're excited to keep building on our Chapter's achievements and make an ongoing impact on FSU's campus through finals and into the spring! We are pleased to share that three Kappa Alpha Chapter sisters were awarded scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year. Here's what Campbell Miller had to say about the scholarship: "From the moment I walked into KD during recruitment, I was immediately greeted with genuine conversations with women who could go on and on about the friendships they had gotten out of their Chapter. After joining Kappa Delta, I immediately understood what they meant; KD was home to the most inspiring, kind, and loyal women I have ever met, and I am so grateful to be able to call these women my best friends."
