BΘΠ THETA DELTA THETA DELTA DRAGON DRAGON Beta Theta Pi at The Ohio State University • Fall 2024 u CHAPTER HOUSE PROJECTS The House Corporation had a busy summer preparing the house for the 50 undergraduates who are living at 165 E. 15th Avenue this fall! All the sleeping rooms and bathrooms needed to be painted, as they had only been touched up since the house was completed in fall 2017 and the first members moved in. In addition, many other rooms in the house were freshly painted, and the terrazzo floor in the entryway containing the crest was stripped and refinished, as was the floor in the laundry room. We also installed a new ice machine in the kitchenette and replaced two weight benches in the workout facility. u THANK YOU, DONORS We offer a big thank you to the generous supporters who have helped fund the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Chapter House. As we draw closer to the end of the calendar year, remember that these donations are tax deductible! u NEW HOUSE DIRECTOR In addition to the upkeep projects, we also hired a new house director for the 2024-25 school year. Joesph "Manny" Heilman was interviewed and chosen by a group of House Corporation and Alumni Association representatives for this important position. He comes to us from Ohio State Chapter of the FarmHouse Fraternity, where he served as their house manager. Manny graduated from Ohio State with a bachelor's degree in English and political science. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in agricultural leadership and public administration. He is also working as the administrative assistant for the VP and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Manny has acquainted himself well with the residents of the Chapter House, the Chapter's executive board, and House Corporation members and is doing a fantastic job in his new position! u MEMBERSHIP GROWTH As mentioned before, we have 50 undergraduates living in the Chapter House! This is the first time since the house was completed that we have exceeded capacity and is a testament to the flexibility of the new facility in being able to reconfigure rooms to meet the housing needs of the Chapter. Due to the larger numbers, we are hoping that this is the start of a trend in housing more than the original 48-member limit. u AN IMPOR TANT ADDITION As was reported in the last Theta Delta Dragon, we also installed the donor plaque in the Chapter House to honor the 99 alumni and the undergraduate Chapter who contributed to building the new Chapter House. The plaque occupies a prominent place in the front foyer and honors all who so generously contributed to constructing the preeminent Chapter House on The Ohio State University campus. We hope you can stop by soon to see the plaque and tour the house if you have not done so! Yours in -kai-, Scott Saffell '78, President | Beta Theta Pi Alumni Association RISING EVER HIGHER REPORT FROM THE HOUSE CORPORATION AND ALUMNI ASSOCIATION The donor plaque, featuring the names of 99 alumni and other donors who contributed to funding the new Chapter House, is a marvelous addition to our facility!
