C O M Fall 2024 GOLF SCRAMBLE SUCCESS Our second annual summer golf outing was another huge success. More than 100 alumni and undergraduates came together for a day of brotherhood. We had brunch at the house followed by a golf scramble at Purdue's Ackerman-Allen course and, finally, a barbecue dinner back at the house. Everyone picked up right where we le off the last time we saw each other—with lots of great stories of our time at 150 Littleton. anks to the organizing committee and all who attended. Next year's event will be on Saturday, May 31! Please save the date and encourage brothers you're still in touch with to join you. HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES Remnants of Hurricane Helene stayed away from West Lafayette, giving our Homecoming reunion the chance to be its own great event (it was!). e football team's struggles did not deter a large tailgate gathering outside the stadium from having a terrific time. A group from the 1960s came back together and toured the house aer the game. anks as always to John Laurie '85 for hosting and organizing such a great event every year! CHAPTER STANDING e undergraduates are making great progress in addressing issues that resulted in the probationary status with the university and General Fraternity. e leadership is committed to enhancing the culture, holding brothers accountable, and adhering to sanctions. ey have successfully navigated their way through the initial (full social probation) phase and are on track to return to good standing in the spring. e alumni board continues to monitor this closely. HOUSE MAINTENANCE Regarding the Chapter House, as we have mentioned over the last few issues of Beta Mu Link, we need to replace our 97-year-old roof. It has served us well, but the patches to maintain it over the years are no longer effective. We are in the early planning stages of replacing it next summer. We are also in discussion with contractors to select a material. We are considering a slate material (same as before), a black solar roof, or a lower cost (and lower lifespan) composite material. Contact me at thoover6060@gmail. com if you have feedback to share regarding the best route forward. Many of you have already provided financial support, and we are very appreciative of that. To meet our financial goals, we are currently assessing what the best path forward is.
