IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY PAGE 3 T he first few weeks of the semester are always the busiest but also the most fun. Brothers have been staying busy with recruitment and getting to know new members, brotherhood events, and most importantly, getting off to a good start with their schoolwork. MAKING THE GRADE Our chapter, especially in recent years, has taken immense pride in our academics. We have always made it clear to new and established members that they are here to be a student first and a fraternity brother second. That paid off this spring when our chapter recorded a 3.3 GPA, which is a 0.03 increase from the previous semester. We also had 53 members make the dean's list. Our GPA ranked fifth among all fraternities across campus and first for wet houses. Credit should be given to the standards/expectations we hold all members to as well as the numerous resources we provide for their academics. PHILANTHROPY Last spring, we held our annual Cones and Bones philanthropy at the house. We raised $2,000 for the Puppy Jake Foundation, which supports placing trained service dogs with veterans who experience PTSD. We are always looking to add to and improve our philanthropy and our overall involvement within the community. NEW FACES Over the summer and during formal recruitment, we were able to sign 36 new members to the chapter! While recruiting, our recruitment chairmen, Conner Stern '23 and Don David '23, focused on the idea of quality over quantity. Being the largest chapter on campus, we have the luxury of recruiting the best PNMs from the large pool of incoming freshmen wanting to join Greek life. HOMECOMING This fall, we are paired with Gamma Phi Beta, which we are extremely excited for. Our chapter won Homecoming in 2022 with Alpha Phi, and we could not be more confident in winning again. Our chapter is getting involved once again this semester with community service, having members volunteer at places like Food at First and Reiman Gardens. UPCOMING EVENTS We're also looking forward to an alumni event on October 5 and Dad's Day on October 19. For both events, we will be in the back lot of the house hanging out, playing games, and watching football. These two events are some of the most enjoyable days of the fall, so we could not be more excited! STAYING ACTIVE Chapter members are continuously involved in intramurals, including flag football, softball, and volleyball. Intramurals are a great way to be involved on campus, spend time with brothers outside of the house, and use our athletic abilities. AWARDS Our chapter is in a very good position right now, proven by our ninth-straight and 28th overall True Merit Bowl win this summer at ATΩ Congress in Tucson, Arizona. Iowa State and IFC are happy with us, Nationals is happy with us, and it's always a good sign when Mr. Kelly is happy with us. The chapter is extremely thankful for the continued support from our alumni and Corporation Board, and we want to extend an invitation to anyone who ever wants to stop by the house to relive their glory days! Love and Respect, Alex Lachenmayer '22 President Our spring 2024 graduating seniors (all initiated in 2020) gather for a commemorative photo. Alex Lachenmayer '22 and Jace Bauknecht '22 receive the chapter's ninth-straight True Merit award. ATΩ CEO Wynn R. Smiley listens as President Alex Lachenmayer '22 speaks on our chapter's success at ATΩ's 86th Congress. 2022 initiates snap a quick pic while enjoying Spring Formal.
