DELTA CHI NEWS ALUMNI NEWSLETTER | OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY | FALL 2024 Inside: Alumni Spotlights • Pg. 2 | A Great Time to Be a Delt • Pg. 3 D elta Chi Chapter's morale is high as our undergraduate brothers begin the new academic year. With over 100 members, the Shelter is buzzing with energy thanks to the efforts of the executive team and Chapter Advisors Logan Holden '14 and Shae Roggendorff '92. ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT I hope to see many Delt alumni in attendance for Walkaround during Homecoming on November 1. This will be a great chance for you to reconnect with fellow alumni while checking in at the Shelter and seeing why your support matters. For those of you who have contributed to the Pledge Delt Again campaign, we appreciate your contributions to the Shelter. Please read on for the latest on the campaign and our current financial status. HOUSE CORPORATION OPENINGS Alumni volunteers help us keep Delta Chi Chapter well-prepared for the future, and we could always use more assistance in supporting the brotherhood. Current House Corporation openings vary, but we appreciate any enthusiasm you could bring in support of our beloved fraternity. If you would like to explore House Corporation service opportunities, you can reach me at mb128855@yahoo.com or (817) 253-0036. From volunteer efforts to campaign pledges and attending alumni events, there's no shortage of ways to show your ongoing devotion to Delta Tau Delta. Fraternally, Michael Barker '78 House Corporation President W e wanted to update you on where we are with the campaign. The original campaign pledged amount was $5.8 million. YTD, we have collected $3.95 million. We would truly like to close out the pledges that are outstanding by the end of 2024, if possible. The question has come up, "Why do we have such a large bank loan?" We are currently paying about $23,000 per month on our bank loan for the Shelter. The Shelter cost a little under $7 million. We had $5.8 million pledged, but part of that $5.8 million was pledged through the DTD Educational Foundation. Of this money, we could only utilize 39% toward building the new Shelter. The money that remains will be utilized for scholarships this year and beyond. This is a great way to incentivize members to make the best grades, be more involved, etc., but it does not help us pay down our mortgage debt. Along with this, we had to borrow money to build the Shelter because all the "pledges" were not in yet. We have a mortgage of about $3.5 million with a very decent interest rate, but this will also change in the next two years. Therefore, we need to get as many of the pledges paid off as soon as possible. Most people who pledged have done a great job in paying down their pledge, and we thank you for that. If you have any questions about the financing of the Shelter, please reach out to me at any time. We need to get the bank loan paid down as quickly as possible to alleviate problems for the chapter in the coming years.
