THE BETA OF CLOVIA
TRADITION

O
ur founders created Clovia for women who shared the same ideals of
friendship and allowed for those with 4-H backgrounds to come together while
attending college. Because of these pioneers, Clovia has continued to grow through
the years, strengthening the bonds of sisterhood. Beta of Clovia now includes
women from all backgrounds who work to cultivate leadership skills, gain a sense of
social identity, promote sisterhood, and engage with the community through service
while participating in a variety of campus activities and working to achieve high
academic merit while studying at the University of Minnesota.
Our purposes of sincere and enduring sisterhood, a spirit of sociability, honor,
encouragement, and good scholarship have guided our members to be outstanding
women with successful and distinguished careers. Not only are they great stewards
of the community, but they are also great sisters who have filled our history with
tradition and accomplishment. The bonds that have been formed within Clovia over
the last 88 years will last a lifetime.
Many of us trace our time in the chapter back to our first experiences at the house on
Raymond Avenue and now on Carter Avenue, which has been home to our sisterhood
and the center of undergraduate life for hundreds of sisters. While this house has
served us well, now is the time to provide a safe and modern facility that matches the
caliber of our Clovia sisters today and supports their scholastic requirements.
