Brothers Branch Out and Adapt to Change Tyler Warner '25 Chapter President tawknc@mst.edu O ur Missouri Gamma brothers spent their summers all over the U.S. with great companies like SpaceX, Rust-oleum, and Kiewit. Fifty-three of our 77 members gained valuable internship experiences that they look to capitalize on this fall at the career fair. For the spring semester, we raised our GPA by .05 to 3.28, which placed us sixth among all fraternities on campus. Our goal is to make it into the top three this academic year. Our Chapter raised over $3,600 for the Russell House during Sexual Assault Awareness Week this spring. We also had our annual Fish Fry with Zeta Tau Alpha and plan to develop an additional philanthropy event this semester. We continue working to improve the Balanced Man Program at Missouri Gamma. Recent graduate Daniel Thompson '24 and newly elected VP of Membership Development Andy Oitker '26 have made some significant changes over the last year, which I feel will improve the experience for our brothers. We welcomed 21 new members this fall to SigEp. Andy and his team will work diligently this semester as they guide these men through the Sigma Challenge to become acquainted with their brothers, their fraternity and Chapter, and college life. Our Chapter officers attended our annual retreat with Alumni Board members to help us define our Chapter and individual goals for the year. It was a great experience spending valuable time with older brothers, who shared their wisdom on setting and achieving goals. These alumni clearly still take pride in their Chapter. H ow have your Missouri Gamma bonds stood the test of time? Greg Flieg '90 is grateful to maintain his connection to the brotherhood by hosting a yearly alumni golf outing while cherishing a legacy connection with his son. EARLY DEVELOPMENT "I originally joined because I knew many current members and several high school classmates," Greg said. While he gravitated toward Missouri Gamma for those preexisting friendships, it was the sense of belonging that made SigEp the right fit. "Their genuine camaraderie and the way they welcomed me made it clear that this was the right place for me. I've always felt it was one of my best decisions regarding college." Greg's fraternity experience influenced him to seek leadership positions, from committee chairman roles and Chapter secretary to IFC representative and IFC president. He credits those opportunities for the leadership, organization, and communication skills he carried into the professional world beyond college. PROFESSIONAL LIFE After graduation, Greg began working as a process engineer at Reynolds Metals Company. He moved into sales with Syensqo (formerly Cytec Industries), which prompted a relocation from Corpus Christi, Texas, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While working for Syensqo, Greg's sales and business management roles have allowed him to travel to nearly 25 countries and see how different cultures share similar concerns and ambitions. "I attribute this opportunity to the solid education I received at MS&T and the valuable experience I gained at SigEp." STAYING CONNECTED Greg and his wife, Susan, encouraged Jeremy Flieg '22 to consider joining a fraternity at MS&T. It was a special moment for Greg when his son chose SigEp, and they appreciate the shared fraternal values that transcend their different college experiences. "The essential life skills and the formation of lifelong friendships continue to be central to the experience. In some ways, these aspects are even enhanced today, thanks to social media." Greg's Missouri Gamma involvement has increased since Jeremy joined, attending Alumni Board meetings and assisting with inventory days. His greatest contribution has become a yearly Missouri Gamma alumni golf outing that Greg began when he moved back to Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, in 2017. Though Greg maintained contact with alumni for years, his move prompted him to start the event to see brothers on a yearly basis. "It's been wonderful catching up each year, and it seems everyone enjoys the opportunity to reconnect and reminisce about our times at MS&T and SigEp." Anyone interested in playing in the annual outing can get added to the invite by sending Greg an email. Greg encourages fellow alumni to stay engaged with Missouri Gamma, whether it's through alumni events or visiting the Chapter House. You can connect with Greg at greg.flieg@gmail.com. WHAT FRATERNAL CONNECTION MEANS TO GREG FLIEG '90 Bonds Stand the Test of Time "My son and I agree that we might not have graduated and been as well-prepared for professional life without our SigEp experience and the friendships we developed."
