M embers of the 1994 pledge class recently pooled their resources to make a generous contribution to the First on the Row, First in Our Hearts campaign. Their group gift will fund a beautiful new tree swing, which will be installed in the front yard of the Chapter House. Louise Morrison Blanchard '94 was inspired to give by the desire to share her experience with a new generation. "I hope this update to the physical facilities will allow current and future Alpha Etas ample opportunities for that same fellowship and sisterhood," she said. Corinne Giacobbe Hufft '94 decided to join her pledge sisters in sponsoring the swing because of the lifelong friendships and genuine sisters she met at the house. "I wanted to do something to memorialize that wonderful time in my life." For Hannah Deaton Heltz '94, the swing represents a place where sisters can create special memories unique to living with 50 other young women. The new Chapter House will kick off an exciting new chapter in Alpha Eta's history. Jennifer Cox Serio '94 hopes the next generation will be able to pay this gift forward at some point in the future. "I hope they appreciate contributions from alumnae and it inspires them to give back to the Chapter for years to come." "We all have fond memories of visiting on the old swing or waiting for the bus to take us to class," shared Mary Mowad Guiteau '94. Her goal in giving is to preserve the charm of the old house while embracing the opportunities that accompany a new start. "I hope it will serve as a home away from home, just like it did for me and my pledge sisters 30 years ago," she said. "I believe this refreshed version of our classic Hayes Town house will give the women a sense of our history while making way for the future." If these women have inspired you to help us reach our fundraising goal and make 4090 W. Lakeshore Drive the place to be for our next 60 years—there's still time!
