24 | e Jewelry Book By Invitation Only Inside the Exclusive Select Jewelry Shows Select Jewelry Shows are private, by invitation-only, premium jewelry trade shows with exclusivity, comfort, and professionalism as their hallmarks. T he Select Jewelry Shows are private B2B trade events to which only a handpicked group of vendors and retail jewelers are invited. e format of the shows is smaller, hence more personal, which sets them apart from larger industry events. Vendors and pre-registered retail jewelers, who have earned high ratings with the Jewelers Board of Trade, are carefully selected by the show organizers. As a result, the shows feature 55-70 top jewelry brands and many popular jewelry lines. e one-floor layout and intimate nature of the shows allow both vendors and retail jewelers to conduct their business and network in a comfortable, stress-free, and secure environment. e Select Jewelry Shows were founded in 2010 by NYC-based jewelry manufacturer Joe Carullo. Carullo wanted to develop a high-end B2B event, where exhibitors and buyers could focus on conducting business with ease and confidence. Today, Carullo continues to lead the shows with his partners, Andy Kohler and Jordan Brockhaus Spears. Held across three regions, these fall trade shows allow retail jewelers to stock up for the upcoming holiday season. e convenient two-day schedule, running Sunday and Monday at each location, makes it easy for all participants to attend. is year, the Select Jewelry shows celebrate their 15th anniversary. I caught up with Carullo to discuss the shows in this landmark year. What inspired you to start the Select Jewelry Show 15 years ago? My inspiration for Select started in 2002, when, as an exhibitor, I was always frustrated with show preparation. My vision was to create a jewelry show that was effortless for exhibitors. Unlike most other trade shows, Select has a turnkey format. We do the work for the vendors, not vice versa. Vendors receive two nights' complimentary stay along with everything they need, to easily and successfully sell their jewelry lines. What criteria do you use to select exhibitors for Select? Select Exhibitors must be nationally and/or internationally known. e diversity of the group is imperative, which I monitor personally. As a show organizer, why do you prioritize the intimate show size? is is a deliberate choice, mainly for ease and simplicity. e retailers and vendors enjoy the relaxed ambience while cultivating their business relationships. Also, the smaller show size lends itself to elegance. Are there any special events planned to mark Select's 15th anniversary year? We are planning a Designer Showcase Cocktail party in Dallas to kick off the 15th year, along with another Tower Designer Cocktail Party. What has been your proudest achievement in organizing the show over these 15 years? e proudest moment was in 2010 when we started Dallas Select.
