Theta Chi - Drake University

I n the most recent edition of Theta Chi's The Rattle magazine, International President Craig Andreasen wrote a feature article about the impact one man can have on the world around him. It caused us to consider the impact and influence our Gamma Tau brothers had on our own experiences. Those who came before and after us each played a role in making us who we are today. We challenge you to consider those key influential people in your life. Who helped you become the man you are today? How many of them are Theta Chi? As you've likely seen in recent years, Drake University is undergoing significant changes to adapt to the new realities of higher education. Drake is not alone in this effort, as many universities across the country are addressing similar issues. We can debate the pros, cons, and what the future will hold for our beloved institution, but I believe one thing is constant: Gamma Tau Chapter will continue to provide a place where young men find a home, receive support from their brothers, and develop the skills to be successful leaders in their next stage of life. We've been busy over the last year and a half, diligently working to Secure the Future for Gamma Tau Chapter. Recognizing the impact of decreasing enrollment and, more specifically, fewer men enrolling at Drake, our biggest threat to the chapter is the remaining debt on the house. When we retire the mortgage on the house and establish reserve funds for both ΘX Building Corporation and the Helping Hand Foundation, Gamma Tau Chapter will have the necessary resources to thrive in this new environment at Drake. Something we continue to hear from alumni is that Drake cannot, in its current state, support nine fraternities. Theta Chi must be one of the surviving fraternities, and this campaign will position us to do so. It is an honor to announce the Secure the Future campaign. Through the generosity of our early supporters, we have raised over $718,000, but with your help, we can accomplish our $1,320,000 goal. Your gift will be an investment in the lives of our undergraduate members and the future of our chapter. We urge you to consider what your college experience and the years since would have been like without Theta Chi. No brother, past, present, or future, should have to consider such a vapid existence. In the next few weeks, please look for more information concerning the capital campaign and our project goals.
