NEWS Big Red Island Big Red Island Beta Theta Pi at Oklahoma State University / Summer 2024 WHAT'S INSIDE In February, Gamma Lambda initiated the pledge class shown above. The celebration photo took place on the Beta front porch where we've captured many memories over the years. The President's Report from Matthew Muller '26 is shown on page 2. His report includes details of the many activities in our house and the outstanding achievements and numerous awards received in the spring semester. Still amazing is that Beta can achieve a 3.58 with 166 men in the GPA average. Of special note in his report are the awards received at the annual Interfraternity Council (IFC) banquet. Beta was recognized with an award for Chapter Management and an award for Most Improved Chapter. Also, he reports that Beta was very close to more awards given by the IFC, the OSU governing body over fraternities. See the pictures on page 3 of the spring shows and the winning outcomes. As we know, the shows are great for bonding with brothers and meeting sorority members as you practice the performances together. On pages 4 and 5, there are pictures of our sports activities; read the write-up on how sports are very different from days gone by. The article includes the organization of intramural sports, co-ed leagues, and philanthropic tournaments. On the back page is a picture of our King of the Court tournament on our magnificent BRIAC court. The caption describes the charitable cause supported by our tournament. And page 7 depicts an OSU community service project. Beta had a strong turnout supporting the large cleanup service project for the community and City of Stillwater. On page 6, there is a picture of the completed Donor Wall in our Heritage Room. The participation of donors was greatly appreciated as we were able to construct a beautiful new Beta house to propel us forward and where fond memories can be made of our fraternity college days. HOUSE FINANCING As noted in our last BRI newsletter, we still have debt to service, and we are looking for brothers and friends of Beta who would consider an additional gift to help reduce the debt. We have ongoing property cleaning, facility maintenance, fixed asset replacements, and other similar expenses. Reducing debt further can contribute to reducing house bills, targeting specific property maintenance projects, and providing opportunities for partial housing scholarships. If you have questions about donations, inquiries can be directed to a Building Corp member or a BRI editor (see the top of page 8 for sending or receiving contact information). A BALANCED HOUSE Looking at our Beta house at Oklahoma State, we see a balanced fraternity with successes in all of our many activities and endeavors as well as leadership development, personal growth, and lifelong friendships being made. Read, look, and enjoy! Sincerely and yours in _kai_, Greg Colpitts '88 Larry Maguire '65 FEBRUARY 2024 INITIATION OF NEW BROTHERS HOUSE GPA: 3.58 SPRING SING: 1ST PLACE VARSITY REVUE: 2ND PLACE THE BRI FRATERNITY EXPERIENCE IFC AWARD CHAPTER MANAGEMENT SPRING INTRAMURALS • SOFTBALL: 1ST PLACE • VOLLEYBALL: 1ST PLACE • FRISBEE: 1ST PLACE
