e Washington Alpha Delt 2 A fter a slow winter, during which 15 of our Brothers studied abroad, the Chapter was reunited this spring. Now two years removed from temporarily housing at Delta Upsilon, I think it is safe to say that the Temple feels like home again. While those years have not been without their bumps and bruises, I am proud to say we've experienced a vibrant revival of Brotherhood over the last year and are poised to continue. WINTER QUARTER AND HOUSE RETREAT While winter quarter is often looked down upon due to weather and the difficulty of class loads, there were many positives. We started strong, initiating 26. While there is a transitional period as new initiates come into their own and begin to take on responsibility, I couldn't be prouder of the progress and contributions they've already made. Shortly after initiation, as has become a yearly tradition, we had our house-wide retreat. This year, we ventured back to Pack Forest, the site of the 2022 retreat. Two years ago we focused on bylaw editing, and last year we discussed the culture of our house, so this year we decided to address our broader goals and review the progress of changes previously implemented. We spent more than five hours on Saturday discussing how we might expand the Chapter, excel academically, and strengthen our culture. We examined how changes have impacted our new direction. The ideas generated were incredibly helpful and have led to increased member involvement in day-to-day activities and more pride in each other's academic success. After the hard work was done, the Chapter celebrated with dinner and a campfire. GIVING BACK IN OUR COMMUNITY In January, the Chapter was awarded the Excellence in Philanthropy award from UW's IFC. Washington Alpha Delts are one of the most participatory Chapters in Greek-wide philanthropy events, evidenced in part by our win in Gamma Phi Beta's Moonball volleyball tournament, benefiting Kids on the Run. CHAPTER GOALS At our second Chapter meeting, we wrote down goals for the year and how we might achieve them. The top three were to win the E.O Blackman Award, receive all four check marks on the IFC grade report each quarter, and recruit at least 35 members this fall. I am pleased to announce we have already made substantial progress. We met our grade report goal for fall 2023. We currently have five pledges for our spring class living in the house, with another five already signed and set to join in the fall. Lastly, we were fortunate enough to host Chapter Service Consultant Ben Yoshida at the start of the spring quarter and show him everything our Chapter has to offer. THANK YOU! Alumni Brothers, if you haven't had the chance to visit the Temple since its renovation, we invite you to stop by and check it out! We would be happy to give you a tour. It is the least we could do as we continue to benefit from your legacy of achievement and your generous contributions to this house.
