Beta Theta Pi - The Ohio State University

T he annual Theta Delta Roundup was held at Scioto Country Club on April 18, 2024, with 137 alumni and undergraduates in attendance! It was a great evening of rekindling old friendships and making new ones that featured a social hour, dinner, scholarship awards, and a great session with Ohio State's newly appointed director of athletics, Ross Bjork. The evening started with a social hour where alumni and undergraduates greeted each other and mingled. Afterward, all in attendance were led in the Beta Doxology by Asher Hamilton '25. BUCKEYE BUSINESS During dinner, Ross spoke on a myriad of topics from the prospect of college athletes being university employees to the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) trend and its impact on collegiate athletics to his transition from current director of athletics, Gene Smith. After his talk, Ross led a Q&A session. He was a great speaker and very gracious with his time and information about the Buckeyes as well as his path that brought him to Ohio State. Thanks to Dominic Bagnoli '85, who arranged for Ross to be with us! FRATERNAL ACCOLADES The evening continued with remarks on the state of the Chapter from President Andrew Monzel '26, the presentation of the Moyne M. Morgan Scholarship, and the H.M. "Butch" O'Neill Beta Theta Pi Leadership Scholarship. We also recognized two Betas in attendance who received their Fraternal Fifties pins for being Betas for more than 50 years. Afterward, Dan Ketcham '77 led the traditional Beta Countdown before we closed with the singing of "Carmen Ohio." Congratulations to John Jacob '60 for being the longest-initiated member in attendance! The Moyne M. Morgan Scholarship, which recognizes an outstanding Beta in the Fisher College of Business, was awarded to Cole Heidelberger '26, and the H.M. "Butch" O'Neill Beta Theta Pi Leadership Scholarship for an outstanding officer serving Theta Delta was awarded to Ian Fairfield '26. Congratulations to both for their accomplishments! HONORING OUR DONORS We displayed a prototype of a donor plaque to be installed in the Chapter House this summer to honor the 99 alumni and active Chapter who contributed to the new Chapter House construction. This plaque will occupy a place in the front foyer of the house, commemorating those who supported the efforts to build the best house on campus where undergraduates can occupy and thrive as leaders of the Greek community.
