Redstone Federal Credit Union's award-
winning Schools Program is excited to
open a second student-run credit union
branch in Murfreesboro.
is fall, Siegel High School students
will work in the branch, gain real-life
experience, improve their financial
literacy, and earn money while training.
e program already operates at
Blackman High School with great success.
Redstone's Schools Program is in high
demand and has won several state and
regional awards for its innovative and
practical approach to financial literacy.
In addition, each school gets a specially
designed debit card that it can offer to
students, staff, alumni, and fans. Each
time a Redstone member swipes that
debit card, Redstone gives money back
to the school. So far, the program has
generated over $742,000 in revenue for
the schools and community partners.
e Schools Program consists of
eight high school branches and three
college/university branches that are
fully operated by the students. e
work experience and school credit
that students receive are important.
However, graduating seniors also get a
chance to win a $2,000 scholarship from
Redstone. e Credit Union has paid out
$52,000 in scholarships since 2017.
Mike Panesi, Redstone's Tennessee
market executive, applauds the
partnership and collaboration that
Redstone has with the schools and
boards of education.
"When you think about how much the
students get from this partnership
and how much revenue the schools
can earn, it's a win-win for everyone
involved," said Panesi.
