\\\\\\\\\\\\ Alumni Update \\\\\\\\\\\\ CHAPTER ETERNAL John T. Newlin '42: John served in the Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, he was employed by Rose Polytechnic as an instructor in Civil Engineering. John obtained a master's degree from the State University of Iowa and earned additional post graduate credits at the University of Michigan. He joined father's real estate business, Newlin Johnson Co., and later became President of the company. Now Newlin Miller, John had been President for over 50 years. John was active in many community affairs including Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club, the Wabash Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, and active on the board of the Terre Haute Girl Scouts as well as several other philanthropic and social organizations. Richard "Dick" Trueb '58: Dick dedicated 25 years of his career to working with the Mead Corporation, followed by BE&K, Polar BEK, and completed his Career as CEO of Polar-BEK Latvia. He always placed God first, followed by his family, serving his community, and most importantly his church throughout his life. He was a devoted member of the Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, treasurer, and choir member for many years. H. James O'Donnell '59: Before attending Rose Poly, Jim served in both the Navy and Army. Jim worked GE for 25 years of service and then with S & C Electric until retirement. Jim enjoyed the community of Naperville, IL and was involved in the volunteer efforts including Kiwanis, tutoring elementary school, and being an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. Micheal Scherer '64: Michael served in the Vietnam War. He later started is own company, Technetics Corporation, for himself for 45 years. He was the primary caregiver for his wife Judy during her 18 years fight with Multiple Sclerosis. David Hussung '65: Dave went to work for his family's business, Hussung Me- chanical Contractors. Under Dave's leadership, Hussung Mechanical and HMC Service Company grew to be the largest and one of the most well respected me- chanical contracting and servicing companies in the state of KY. Dave had many friends with deep relationships. Dave was a strong believer in Christ and donated many hours of his time and resources to his local church and many other minis- tries. Richard Reeves '65: Rich worked Naval Avionics in Indianapolis during the 1960's. During the 1970's, he worked at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In 1980 he began working for Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, until he re- tired in 2003. He was a devoted fan of college football and running. In 1996, he was selected in a lottery and ran the 100th Boston Marathon. In 1997, he and his wife, Rose, ran the London Marathon along with the Chicago Marathon. David Skevington '66: Dave earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy degree from Tulane University and retired from the New Orleans Police Department after many years of dedicated service. He was a parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Slidell. David enjoyed gardening and carpentry, but treasured nothing more than the time he spent with his family and friends. John S. Newlin '69: John was a 1971 graduate from Indiana University (MBA) and began his professional career with Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio and later moved on to Akron Brass in Wooster, Ohio. In 1978, he relocated to Terre Haute, IN, and joined Newlin-Johnson Co. Inc. He was a member and presi- dent of the Terre Haute City Council from 1988 to 2000. He was a lifelong parish- ioner of St. Patrick's Parish, where he served as president of the Parish Council. He served as president of the Mental Health Association Board years later. He was the former president and member of Kiwanis Club of Terre Haute for 45 years. John S. loved God, family, friends and Terre Haute. Kathy Warner: The wife of Lee Warner '82, passed away unexpect- edly last November. Lee is very grateful for the ten ATΩ '82 broth- ers and wives that came to the me- morial service in Clanton, Al. All of the brothers made generous contri- butions to the memorial garden in her honor. ALUMNI NEWS Rose-Hulman's Career Achievement Award — Brian Leyes Eddie Ransom '99, J.P. Wil- liams '99, and Scott Davis '99 competed in the Arnold Clas- sic Pump and Run, Bench Press and 5k Competition. Ed- die placed 67 th overall of 855 athletes. J.P. and Scott got par- ticipation medals. Joseph Haniford '80 retired September 1st, 2023 from Carpenter Technology after 8 years. He also served as Senior Vice President & COO and spent 33 years with Alcoa in various roles, including Busi- ness Unit President and with Heil Trailer as COO. Dr. Eric Lucas '07 was promoted to Chief Operating Officer at Ul- rich Medical USA, a medical device company specializing in prod- ucts used in spine surgery. Eric has been with the company for six years, leading the company to launch eight new FDA cleared devices. He led the move of the company's headquarters from St. Louis, Mis- souri, to Dallas, TX in 2023. In 2023, he also completed his Execu- tive MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Ben Klick '16, his wife Emily, and 2-year-old son Jonah welcomed a baby sister, Norah, in December 2023. Ethan Britt '20 got married to Marissa Scott in early May 2023 in Greencastle, IN. Dalton Andrew '22 is getting married to Keara Shelton this summer in late June in Knightstown, IN. Ashvin Lad, '96 was recognized by the City of Chicago with "Ashvin Lad Day" on June 1st, 2024 for his significant contributions to the betterment of the city over the last twenty years.
