5 Kappa Sigma T his year, Gamma Chapter has prioritized the betterment of the chapter through leadership and chapter development. GAINING LEADERSHIP TOOLS On the weekend of February 2, VNR Finance Sal Petrelli '23 (Γ1953) and VNR Planning Joshua Peters '22 (Γ1932) traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to participate in Alpha Gamma Rho's Top Leaders Institute 2024. Chapter Advisers Corey Hudson '99 and Marce Pancio were also in attendance. Brothers learned about leadership, ethics, fraternity structure, communication skills, team development, and self-improvement. It was an awesome weekend where they were able to meet with other chapters of AGR, share information, learn from each other, and experience a program where the goal was to make better men. Josh and Sal brought back ideas and valuable leadership tools that will improve our chapter's long-term success. UNDERSTANDING OUR STYLES Along with attending this event, our chapter recently attended two organizational training weekends run by Plaid. At these weekends, our brothers gained a better understanding of our personality and leadership styles and how to utilize these to the best of our ability. The weekends gave us a different perspective on leadership strategy, as it allowed us to break down and understand each brother's strengths, weaknesses, and preferences when it comes to working as a chapter. We discussed our values as AGR and learned how to function to the best of our ability as an organization. We also set goals for the future, which include recruiting a class that aligns with our values. SUPPORTING OUR PHILANTHROPY In fall 2023, Gamma Chapter participated in Homecoming, the second- biggest student-run philanthropy event at Penn State, and placed second prior to our suspension. The top three organizations in the competition win a cash reward that goes toward their national philanthropy. Gamma Chapter is looking forward to participating and representing the Penn State community in a positive light in the fall 2024 semester. Fraternally, Brenden Battavio '23 (Γ1938) VNR Alumni Relations A Summary of Our Year Bettering Gamma Chapter Josh Peters '22 (Γ1932) and Sal Petrelli '23 (Γ1953) in Philadelphia.
