"I think, as young SAE members, we didn't always recognize that the alumni were also our brothers," Clifford "Chip" Cleveland II '93 said of his collegiate years. Chip grew to appreciate those alumni and all they did for Alabama Alpha Mu as he, too, got older. Knowing that today's brothers will also look back on how their alumni served them, Chip is proud to support e Campaign for Alabama Alpha Mu. It only took one recruitment party for Chip to know Sigma Alpha Epsilon was right for him. "at choice led to long-lasting bonds and friendships, which still exist today, with like-minded gentlemen I can count on," he said. Completing the pledge process remains a fond memory for his class, and Chip considers the various projects and improvements they completed for the chapter house to be part of their legacy. Chip's support of 550 W. Magnolia didn't end when he graduated. Soon aer finishing law school, he was recruited by Traweek Dickson '77 to join the House Corporation ("and when Traweek spoke, you listened"). In Chip's time as House Corporation President, Alabama Alpha Mu made vast improvements in communication with the National Fraternity and completed extensive exterior renovations at the chapter house. He looks forward to further housing upgrades as the campaign continues. Chip and his wife raised two sons: one, now deceased, was a fellow SAE brother, and one is a second-year med student at UAB. Professionally, Chip is proud of establishing a successful law firm of over 20 years in his hometown of Prattville, Alabama. at success has allowed Chip to further his family's agricultural roots, having owned and operated a local cattle ranch for over 25 years. "I believe SAE helped me broaden my horizons with a strong work ethic and communication skills, which helped me establish a good career and better relationships," Chip said. "Sometimes I might travel to court in Mobile, and I'll run into a fraternity brother." Chip and his brothers try to reconnect at least once a year, spending as much time as possible at a brother's lake house and keeping in touch oen.
