3 SIGMA CHI Theta Chapter Remains Involved Across Campus and the Community T heta Chapter has enjoyed its 160th year at Gettysburg College. Our 2024-25 executive board began its term this January and is excited to continue the great work of our chapter. Theta initiated eight brothers in the Fall and four in the Spring. Our Spring class initiation coincided with the celebration of the 160th, enabling the chapter to share in the festivities with the chapter and alumni and fraternal guests from around the world, including Grand Consul Bob Wilson, Fort Hayes '81. This year, the chapter participated in many philanthropic events: Chi-O Night Live, Mr. Apha-O, and SAE Shave-athon. We will also be involved in ADPi Philanthropy Feud. We co-hosted a blood drive in February through the Red Cross with Lambda Chi Alpha and Alpha Omicron Pi. Finally, Derby Days this spring was held April 8-13; we raised $21,788 towards our $50,000 goal for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Off campus, we took pride in our community; brothers helped a senior couple move and are participating in more local community service opportunities. Also, Theta brothers went global this year; four went abroad this Fall and studied in Amsterdam, Berlin, Rabat, and Rome! Brothers are deeply involved in all areas of campus life. In the arts, Logan Sodl '24 was the lead in the student- directed musical "Something Rotten." Dylan Hewitt '24 performed his senior cello recital "Zeitgeist." In athletics, we have nine brothers on the swim team; five made the Centennial Conference team and two qualified for academic all-district. Currently, Declan Sheeran '24 serves as captain, and next year, Charlie Kiddo '25 and Cort Hobbleman '25 will be captains. On the tennis court, we have four brothers, including captains Mikey Fellman '25 and Alex Kagan '24, and on the baseball diamond, two pitchers. Brothers also participate in club sports with three on the hockey team captained by Quinn Klaiman '25, and four brothers in soccer led by captains Alex Saville '25 and Henry Scheltzer '24. The undergraduate members are eager to put COVID- 19 in the distant past and continue the great legacy of Sigma Chi and Theta Chapter. We are developing improved internal management systems and rebuilding relationships on campus and throughout the vast alumni network.
