L ast summer, the corporation board refreshed the basement décor after reupholstered sofas, chairs, and ottomans were placed in the TV room. We also planned on built-in cabinets in the library and new paint on the third floor, but the board paused those plans to install a new camera security system and purchase a new clothes dryer and ice maker instead. An unexpected improvement was added in late 2023 after attic photos showed insufficient insulation. Although the chapter house withstood at least two polar vortexes, the risk of frozen pipes prompted us to install additional insulation before winter. The board's major projects for summer 2024 will be replacing two shower stalls and repairing the front portico, as it drains water onto the beautiful columns and damages their paint each year. We still have many items on our five-year plan, including built-in library cabinets, external painting, and additional plantings in the front yard and back walkway. Here's Where You Come In The corporation board solicits donations each year to help with the numerous projects that keep Xi's chapter house beautiful and competitive. We always appreciate your help! Also, we will have an additional option for donations this year. There will be a new scholarship, exclusively for Xi members. This will be sponsored and partly funded by corporation board members in honor of Sigma Kappa's 150 years of commitment to women's education and personal growth. We need your help to fully fund it! We have five years to reach our goal of $25,000. At that level, the fund will earn enough money to begin offering a scholarship after 2-3 years. Donations to the Xi Scholarship Fund will be tax deductible, as it is invested and distributed through Sigma Kappa Foundation. Every year, we have Xi sisters who seek financial aid, so we hope that we can help them continue their studies and partake in the transformative experience of sorority life. More details on this fund will come soon. You are an important part of Xi, and we appreciate your visits and support!
