April 17, 2024 ww.DesertMessenger.com 7 The Salvation Army updates By Lee-Ann Henle, Manager Remember our summer shopping hours are now 8:00 AM to 12:00 NOON on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Service Center Outreach is available 24-7 with a phone call for urgent assistance. We will continue accepting mon- etary donations for Quartzsite Fire- fighter Captain Spencer Hess with his cancer fight. We also are having silent auction items that we will change ev- ery two weeks. This week we have an awesome collection of artist paint brushes in a southwestern hand- made roll-up case and an Anker Art Sketch Bless Art Kit. Please come in and contribute to help our local QFD firefighter with his medical expenses. Thank you so much. We so appreciate your donations. Some days we can only take smaller loads. We have limited space and our amazing volunteers process as quickly as they can. Our motto for what we take, "Would you give it to a friend?" We do not accept mattresses, large fatback televi- sions, printers, broken appliances, books that have gotten wet, and tire chains. We receive items inside our porch area. We ask you to take items out of boxes, bags, tubs, etc. so they can be quickly sorted and sent back to our amazing volunteer workers. Clothing can be brought in on hang- ers if that works for you. Please do not leave items outside of the store before or after shopping hours. Call if special arrangements are needed. Thanks. We are thankful for several folks that are bringing in flattened out bags for Clerk Holly. This is very much appreciated. We also have small at home tasks. Ask if you can help us. THANKS so much. Lots of new fun items to see. We have many like new brand-named purses, kids clothing racks and toy shelves are loaded, shoe and boot racks are full, jewelry case has many watches and other nice items, lots of small appliances, nice display of vintage linens and vintage baby clothes and baby shoes, a very nice Shimano bicycle, and tons of half priced decorative pillows. Come and browse in our air-conditioned store. Please watch our postings on Facebook for weekly sales and an- nouncements. I try and post on our Salvation Army Thrift Store Group, as well as Quartzsite Chatter, What's Up Quartzsite Arizona Group and Quartzsite Support Local Business- es Group. We do accept credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Wallet. We cannot process American Express transactions. Please continue to donate your un- needed eyeglasses, computer ink cartridges, cell phones, as well as outdated prescription medications. We recycle all to the appropriate agencies. We do accept food items as well as pet food. Don't forget our adult and child diaper program is always available. This is a monthly program with a simple sign-up procedure. Please ask. We also have a large assortment of medical devices that are available on a loan-out basis with a refund- able deposit upon the item being re- turned in the same condition. We continue to have free shoes, socks, books, and miscellaneous items out front of the store and a free clothing rack and food avail- able inside each day. Please understand that our build- ing has no windows, no air exchange ventilation, our aisles are tight, and we have many senior volunteers with health concerns. We are ask- ing for personal space of six feet (camel length) and have face cover- ings available if you would like. Faith has always carried us through. Be joyful, regardless.
