PAGE 2 Alpha Beta Chapter A riane Schreiber Horn '91 was drawn to Tri Delta for its strong focus on sisterhood and the potential to build lifelong female friendships. To her, Alpha Beta Chapter had the perfect balance of external social activities, including mixers, date parties, and formals, and internal, sister-only activities. As an undergraduate, Ariane served as sponsor chairman and recruitment chairman, which helped her hone organizational skills and develop management and conflict resolution skills. Her experience with recruitment also helped as she interviewed for jobs and remains relevant as she interviews candidates for jobs at her law firm. After graduating from Cornell Law School in 1996, Ariane worked for a federal district court judge in Buffalo, NY, for two years before moving to NYC to work as a litigation associate at a law firm. She then took a job as in-house counsel at a corporation that made chemicals and plastics. After four years, she moved to an in-house counsel job at a large pharmaceutical company. Now she is a partner at Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC, where she has worked for 13 years. Ariane is a regulatory attorney, meaning she counsels clients on federal and state laws and regulations and how they apply to clients. She works with many clients in the pharmaceutical industry on legal issues such as how to appropriately promote prescription and over-the-counter drugs; how to appropriately structure payments and other transfers of value to doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, patients, and others to avoid inappropriately influencing the prescription or purchase of any prescription drugs; and how government health care programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, cover and reimburse prescription drugs. "I am fortunate to work with many very smart and hard-working lawyers at my firm, at other law firms, and in my clients' in-house legal departments," Ariane shared. Ariane loves training the next generation of lawyers and spends a lot of time mentoring lawyers within the firm. Ariane is doing meaningful work to help bring life-saving treatments to the market. She helps companies in a variety of ways to transition drugs from clinical development to commercialization. "I help them negotiate contracts with a wide variety of customers to ensure that products are available in the marketplace as soon as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves a new drug," she shared. "I help them develop their promotional and marketing strategies and materials in a manner that complies with federal and state laws. I also help them develop and implement a wide variety of patient support programs, such as co-pay assistance programs, free drug programs for low-income populations, travel, and lodging support." Ariane has been married for 24 years and has two amazing children. Her daughter is a junior at Bucknell University, a starter on the school's softball team, and is exploring a career in public policy focused on healthcare. Her son is a sophomore at Wake Forest University and is considering a legal career. Ariane's mother joined Tri Delta at Middlebury College; her experience and lifelong friendships inspired Ariane. Ariane remains close with her own Tri Delta sisters; they actively chat on WhatsApp and have been able to get together over the years. "I always know that my Alpha Beta sisters have my back and will come to my aid if ever I need them, as I do and will for them." Ariane loves riding her Peloton, reading, and taking long walks with her 8-year- old boxer. She is also a Bucknell softball groupie and travels around the East Coast most weekends. She is always happy to mentor Cornell students. You can connect with her at You can connect with her at ariane.horn@arnoldporter.com. CALLING ALL ALUMNAE TO ITHACA!
