Oregon Beta Seeks New Home on Campus UNIVERSITY OF OREGON SPRING 2024 Updates from Oregon Beta O regon Beta is in its eighth month back at the University of Oregon. The new Chapter sits at 31 members, they've elected executive board leadership, and the brothers are crafting recruitment strategies for the rest of the year. As there are no seniors in the brotherhood at this point; we expect high retention and exceptional numbers this fall. All in all, it's been a successful restart for our brothers in Eugene! We have had tremendous support from several dedicated volunteers to help us get the Chapter up and running. This includes the SigEp HQ expansion team that spent the fall quarter recruiting new members on campus and the Alumni and Volunteer Corporation, which continues to be responsible for financial decisions and a strategic plan for long- term housing and Chapter support. We have also been fortunate to build a strong Oregon Beta Mentoring Committee. This talented and diverse team of SigEp volunteers has spent considerable time with the new Chapter, offering advice and insights and providing training to aid in establishing new Chapter operations. On that note, we are looking to recruit a mentor for the vice president of recruitment. If you are interested in mentoring undergraduate leaders, please reach out to Jeff Nolz, South Dakota State '03 at nolz@ohsu.edu. The Chapter currently does not reside in the Chapter House, and we now have a written agreement to sell our properties to Bushnell University if we can find an alternative that would fit the needs of our new Chapter. Our housing committee has been diligently exploring a possible scenario that would include building a new home near the Oregon campus. Unfortunately, we are not yet at a point in this rather complex and complicated process where we can confidently announce there will be a new home for Oregon Beta, but be on the lookout for more information soon. As always, many thanks to Mike Sullivan '85, who serves as vice president of housing, Ron Greenman '68, for providing exceptional legal counsel, and Matt Knoles '96, who manages our AVC finances. As our housing plans come together, we will inevitably need to raise additional funds to complete the purchase without saddling Oregon Beta with challenging debt. There are many ways your donations can help build the brotherhood at the new Oregon Beta. Besides housing operations, the AVC also invests in our people. We support our undergraduates financially through scholarships and assist them in attending leadership events, including Grand Chapter Conclave, Carlson Leadership Academy, and Ruck Leadership Institute. We have never conducted a major fundraising effort, but we believe the time must be now. Our alumni's investment will impact the foundation and, ultimately, the legacy of our new SigEp Chapter. We envision a Chapter facility that reflects the excellence of this great institution founded in 1926 and, with luck and hard work, is fully occupied when we celebrate our 100th anniversary in two years. Fraternally, Todd Ruberg '82 AVC President Back in the Saddle YOU'RE INVITED! Make plans to join us for a joint alumni/Chapter event on May 18. We will be attending the Oregon baseball game vs. WSU at 12:05 p.m. with snacks and refreshments served after. Titus Lee '27, Jaden Miller '26, Sebastian Munoz '25, Kellan Quinn '26, and Aidan Westbrook '25 head to the mountains for fresh powder.
