The
Mississippi Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at the University of Mississippi | Spring 2024
D
uring the afternoon of Sunday, December 10, Mississippi Beta,
along with eight other sororities, opened its doors for a Holiday
House Tour benefiting Doors of Hope Transition Ministries.
Doors of Hope is a Lafayette County nonprofit helping families
through financial crises by working with families who are
homeless or at risk of losing their homes. The ministry also
provides financial assistance with rent and utilities, financial
counseling and guidance for living healthy on a budget. Clients
attend monthly meetings to gain life-skills training
and mentoring.
The exterior of the house was festooned with traditional
garland, lights and red ribbon, while the interior was beautifully
decorated in pinks and blues to complement the décor. Jeffrey
C. Hall of Bruce has decorated the house for the holidays
for the past eight years—and this year was possibly the most
beautiful of all! There were lots of oohs and aahs (and cell
phones snapping photos) as guests entered the house and saw
the magnificent arrow staircase, foyer and tree adorned with
lights, greenery and ribbons. Guests were able to tour the main
living rooms, dining room and the upstairs common areas. We
received many compliments!
Members of the Mississippi Beta Chapter House Corporation
and North Mississippi Alumnae Club served as hostesses during
the tour. Through the generosity of women from nine Ole Miss
sororities, Doors of Hope raised $88,438 for ministering to people
in need in Lafayette County. Mississippi Beta is proud to give
back to our university's "hometown," which has given us so much
enjoyment, treasured memories and pride for the past 60 years.
