I
n the months since our summer furniture update, the
decorating committee has begun to focus on artwork for
the main level of the Tri Delta House. We already own several
original paintings from Delta Mu alumnae, including Buffy
Drennen Hargett '75 (an abstract landscape in the Hook Room),
Sally Waldrup Boyd '88 (a landscape in the living and TV rooms),
and Sarah Soule Webb '01 (the crest in the Chapter room). We are
currently working with Susan Hable Smith '89 to procure some
of her collage art, and we also own an original A.K. Hardeman,
whose mother, Stephanie Toomey Daves '75, was a Delta Mu.
Last fall, we were able to commission an original 48-by-48-inch
botanical painting by Tuscaloosa artist Kathryn Gage, whose
daughter, Clara Gage '22, is a current Delta Mu. This painting
uses Tri Delta colors and motifs with a pale blue background,
gold butterflies, oversized pansies, and a large yellowhammer,
the Alabama state bird. It is hanging in the main TV room where
it can be enjoyed by everyone visiting the house! We are also
collaborating with Kathryn to produce a limited print run of this
painting, and all proceeds will be donated to St. Jude. Stay tuned

This beautiful piece was commissioned by the class of 1989 in
memory of their pledge sister, Lisa King Bowling '89, from
Memphis, Tennessee, who passed away in October 2023. Over
half of the cost has been met by the class of 1989, but we are still
accepting contributions! If you would like to donate to this lovely

We have truly enjoyed curating and collecting original artworks
that have a personal connection to Delta Mu. The house looks
