Alpha Chi Omega - Ohio State University

A lpha Omicron commemorated its 100-year celebration this September by welcoming alumnae, friends, and family who traveled to Columbus from across the country. Friday evening, the celebration began with 100 attendees enjoying happy hour at Ohio Brewing Company, as alumnae from the 1970s and 1980s spontaneously serenaded our guests with Alpha Chi Omega songs. Saturday was a full and exciting day at the house where the undergraduates hosted a family-friendly tailgate on the main level which spilled out onto the front lawn! Undergraduates and alumnae chatted over a taco bar, homemade buckeyes, and lemonade before the game in the Shoe. Our alumnae football block cheered on the Bucks, who pummeled the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 63-10. Sunday morning brunch at the Fawcett Center closed the weekend with 215 undergraduates, alumnae, and friends. National President Lynne Herndon, Alpha Upsilon '84 shared fraternity updates and cheered for Alpha Omicron's success—but not our football team's! After brunch, guests were shuttled back to the chapter house to view chapter memorabilia and reflect on our rich history. Thanks to our very own Jennifer Diederich Healy '83, at least one physical artifact from every year of the chapter's existence was on display, a tribute to Alpha Omicron's 100-year- old legacy, the six founding members, and the countless others who came after. Alumnae, thank you for being part of our history, our sisterhood, and the future of Alpha Chi Omega at Ohio State! We are glad you could each celebrate with us in your own way. We also appreciate the volunteers who helped last minute by bringing items from home to add to the pile of supplies needed to execute events, setting up and tearing down event spaces, and welcoming in old friends and new faces. We're grateful to the Alpha Iota Alpha alumnae chapter and Alpha Omicron local house corporation for sponsoring portions of the weekend. And we want to thank undergraduate chapter leadership and current members who welcomed us all home with open arms and engaging conversation throughout our time together. The collegiate members made sure every event was executed flawlessly by facilitating registration, check-in, setup, and clean up. The celebration was a true team effort from many generations of Alpha Chi Omega at Ohio State! Cheers to another 100 years of Alpha Omicron. Loyally, and Go Bucks!
