MARCH 2024 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 41 Pretty Plum-ing — This powder bath was created out of a storage area in the home's basement. This was tricky, as there were no plumbing rough-ins, so we had to make moderately priced design selections for the new bathroom to allow for the extra labor expenses needed to make this a working bathroom. The design goal was to create a fun space that matched the youthful vibe we had created with the new basement design. Purple was our main accent color in the space, so we decided to go for it by using Jaclo's Plum finish on the plumbing fixtures! The baseboard, crown molding, and interior door were also painted in the same shade of plum to tie it all together. The freestanding steel vanity features a white concrete vanity top with an integrated sink. The marble accent in the vanity front was picked up in the random mosaic marble floor tile. We used black grout to emphasize the pattern, then used a metallic wallpaper that was virtually the reverse of the floor pattern for a crazy twist! Offset brass pendants and white glitter art completed the look of this powder bath. Green with Envy — This powder room design transcended conventional boundaries by blending traditional and exotic elements to craft an atmosphere that exuded elegance, sophistication, and global intrigue. The result is a sanctuary of enchantment and curiosity, adorned with brass accents, Zellige wall tiles, and captivating wallpaper. It pays tribute to the past, embraces the present, and encourages exploration of the world within its walls. Design objectives/challenges included: adding a powder room without adding square footage; designing a space that would impress guests without being too formal; ensuring sufficient privacy to make guests feel at ease. Design solutions included: creating a new powder room by carving out space from the surrounding areas; positioning the toilet in a secluded orientation for added privacy; creating a dramatic backdrop with emerald-green handmade Zellige tile, complemented by a custom concrete and wood washstand; installing bold botanical print wallpaper to add drama and cohesiveness to the room; adorning the space with brass touches and faceted pendants to bring a touch of sparkle; installing soft pendant lighting for a warm, inviting glow and providing gentle illumination for the face.
