Oklahoma State University 7 A s you know, our General Fraternity's convention is in August every year. Among all the activities and workshops, there are ceremonies where chapter and individual awards are presented. Sisson Award-winning chapters maintain high standards and inspire complete chapter participation, cooperation, and involvement. This award is calculated based on historical chapter performance and data on current operations and results. The Sisson Award calculation includes the following criteria. • Cultivation of the Intellect – The chapter must achieve a minimum chapter GPA at or above the campus all-men's average. • Chapter Size – The chapter must maintain a chapter size at or above the average chapter size for all fraternities on campus. • Advisor Support – The house must work with an advisory team consisting of the five core advisors: chapter counselor, recruitment advisor, pledge education advisor, risk management advisor, and financial advisor. • New Member Education – New member education certifications must be completed by the deadline established by the Board of Trustees. • New Member Retention – The chapter must maintain a three-year initiation rate of 85% or higher, and this can be tracked at the MyBeta national website. • Cultural Assessment – At least 85% of members must participate in the Beta Brotherhood Assessment. • Leadership Development – The chapter must have a minimum of 10 attendees at core leadership events annually and a minimum of three attendees at other leadership development experiences. • Standing and Operations – The chapter must have a "good standing" status with both the host campus and the General Fraternity. • Financial Health – Accounting standards must be complied with, and the chapter cannot have a financial suspension with the General Fraternity during the previous academic year. As can be noted above, the standards to be met have very definite criteria. Bringing home a Sisson Award lets us see that our chapter is grounded with personal growth, academics, leadership, a sense of belonging, lifelong friendships, and a fulfilling college experience. The Sisson Award speaks well for our principled Oklahoma State Chapter of Beta Theta Pi.
