2 Beta Theta Pi C onsistency! This seems to be the word that shaped fall 2023 at the Big Red Island. Consistency in character and performance is what proves year after year to define brothers' experiences and Beta's legacy in fraternity life. No matter how obstacles attempt to hinder our chapter's success, our brothers find ways to exceed expectations. This is what defines Gamma Lambda. CHAPTER GROWTH We ended the fall semester with 137 active members and remain the largest house on campus. As we move into the spring semester, we anticipate adding 46 to that number in the upcoming initiation. Our head of recruitment, Will Mulready '25, has put together a spring class of 11 soon to be pledged. Following an impressive spring and fall recruitment by Lincoln Tapp '25, we are confident in his abilities to find Men of Principle—those worthy of the badge. Among new initiates this past fall, one of our men was named in the "Top 10 Freshmen" at Oklahoma State, marking consecutive years for a Beta to receive this honor. We extend our gratitude and thanks to the alumni who have assisted in the recruitment process and for the men before us who laid the foundation for our current success. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE During the fall, Gamma Lambda Chapter continued to display its academic dominance with another semester of academic success. Overall, we had another impressive semester, achieving a GPA of 3.52 and placing second among all fraternities. We had 50 brothers achieve a 4.0 (27% of our chapter), with 59 achieving a 3.50 or higher. Once again, we outperformed the Greek IFC average of a 3.32. This has become a staple of Gamma Lambda Chapter. RECENT ACTIVITIES Combining with the amazing women of Zeta Tau Alpha for Freshmen Follies, our talented brothers put on an incredible show, winning third place and adding more hardware to an already overflowing trophy room. Among those awards were Best Vocals and Best Male Follier. As our Varsity Revue pairing with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma continues preparation and rehearsal, we are confident our men will dominate the stage once again. Our brothers also continue to excel across the intramural scene. Throughout the fall, Gamma Lambda Chapter men brought home an ultimate frisbee championship and played in many other intramural championships. With the incredible BRIAC Court just a few steps from the front door, we have continued to host fraternity basketball games, asserting our athletic strength there as well. DEC COMPETITION 2023 marks just our fifth year in the Alumni Association's dec competition. Following an impressive Homecoming pairing and dec in fall 2022, the men of 1207, alongside the incredible women of Kappa Alpha Theta, did not disappoint. Bonding as brothers and getting closer with different sororities around the Greek community has had a significant effect on the chapter. The men of Gamma Lambda Chapter have reached new heights in recent years, earning us another Sisson Award from the General Fraternity over the summer. As we look toward another incredible year, we want to thank all the alumni for the active role you play in our chapter's endeavors. Beta is distinguished from all other houses, not because of achievements but for the men inside the house and those whose footsteps we follow in.
