THETA IOTA page 3 W orking for the K-State men's basketball team fills Bailey Borck Bachamp '07 with pride for many reasons. "I tell people I have the best job in America, and I feel so blessed to be a part of Coach Tang's staff." As the team's director of operations, Bailey is one of just 31 women in positions of leadership on a Division 1 men's basketball coaching staff. She's eager to help other young women find their place in the world of college and professional athletics. "In a nutshell, I oversee the daily operation for our staff and team and keep everyone moving in the same direction," Bailey explained. She spends most of her time on logistics such as team travel and schedule while also managing the team budget, camps, and the Legends program for former players. "Our staff says, 'We don't work together, we live life together,' and we truly do." In her college years at K-State, Bailey also lived life with Tri Delta. EVERY WOMAN A WILDCAT Growing up in Manhattan, Bailey and her younger sister, Raquel Borck '12, got to know Tri Delta through several babysitters who were members of Theta Iota. Bailey got to know a few members through them, which made the Chapter House a comfortable place during recruitment. "That was what has always stood out to me: Tri Delta was a place where I could always be myself." Theta Iota gave Bailey and her sisters invaluable opportunities that continue to serve her after college. The high standards in grades and academic involvement motivate her to go above and beyond in whatever she pursued in life. Similarly, Bailey feels lucky to have worked for head coaches and other colleagues who truly cared about her and wanted to see her succeed. As a business administration student with an emphasis in marketing, Bailey worked as a student assistant for K-State football, serving as a hostess in the premium seating areas for home games. She also landed a college internship with the Kansas City Chiefs and is grateful for all she learned in the NFL. Soon after graduating, Bailey was hired as an administrative assistant in the KSU Basketball Office and worked her way up to a recruiting coordinator. Her current leadership role began soon after Coach Tang was hired in March of 2022. SISTERHOOD LASTS "The friendships I've made in Tri Delta are invaluable, and these women are a part of my best memories in college and beyond," Bailey said. Many big memories stand out to this day, such as date parties and the senior trip to Las Vegas, but she finds that the smaller moments—sitting down together for meals and chapter meetings or walking to and from campus together—are often her favorites. "As alumnae, we always love getting together for life's big events like birthdays, bachelorette parties and weddings, or baby showers." Bailey and her husband, Cole, have twin boys aged 2 1/2, and she always appreciates time spent with them around her busy travel schedule. Bailey Borck Bachamp '07 Shares Her Wildcat Career Bailey's Professional Advice "First, have great networking skills. Take advantage of the opportunities that come your way and always be looking for ways to go above and beyond in your role and multitask. Your first job won't be your last, so as you start your career, make sure you're someone you'd want to employ yourself someday. Sometimes, helping one another can include tough love, but when you have people around you that care, you can always trust that they have your best interest at heart." T he fall semester started with a long but successful week of recruitment! During Work Week, members of all ages bonded by practicing meaningful conversations and enjoying surprises such as cookie bakes from Mr. K's, snow cones from Tads, and a water balloon fight. On Bid Day, we welcomed 34 new Tri Deltas—the maximum number of new members! Our theme was "Tri Delta is the Perfect Match," and we dressed up in tennis skirts and visors and wrote the new members' names on pink tennis balls. We had Chick-fil-A catered, a DJ, a 3D spinning camera, and multiple banners and photo opportunities. Theta Iota has since gained six new members through continuous open bidding, and we are excited to our amazing new initiates thrive in Tri Delta.
