FALL 2023
The Stope
M
y apologies that this semester's The Stope is arriving so late.
That is 100% on me, as after our weekend of celebration, the AVC
took a much-needed break. Then as life sometimes does, I had work
and home (and sometimes school) distracting me from SigEp.
First off, I really want to thank each of you who was able to make it
back to Golden for Homecoming and our 100th anniversary events.
It was so great to meet alumni for the first time as well as reconnect
with some of you whom I've not seen in literally decades. From
the campus and house tours, Homecoming tailgate, banquet, and
Burning Heart ceremony, it was a packed weekend filled with stories,
memories, and from what several of you already asked about, the
start of a new tradition where we gather each decade to celebrate.
I'd also like to express my thanks to everyone who donated to the
event. It allowed the AVC to almost break even while also covering
the full cost of the entire undergraduate Chapter and their dates.
Hopefully, you got a chance to chat with some of the younger
members during the weekend. If not, one of the programs the AVC is
looking to grow is career connections, so please get in touch if you'd
like to help there. Or if you'd like to make a larger impact, we are
also going to start the new Mentoring Board in 2024. We need 8-10
brothers willing to give an hour or two a month; you don't need to
live locally. As you know, the Chapter is on an absolute tear with two
Buchannan Cups in a row, the top fraternity award on campus, and
top in grades for the umpteenth semester. It is always better to build
from strength, so AVC is taking the cue!
Lastly, I'd like to wish each of you the absolute best during this
holiday season. I am proud to be a SigEp and proud to be your
brother. And any chance I get when life isn't distracting, I'd be glad
to buy you a round. Unless you forgot your banquet challenge coin…
then you're buying!
Fraternally,
