e Washington Alpha Delt 7 W ith eternal gratitude for his dedicated years of service but with tangible consternation over the vital vacuum of expertise that now needs to be filled, we announce Grant Osberg '81 has tendered his retirement from the Alumni Board and his role as de facto treasurer and house manager (AKA property manager/parent) of and to the house corporation. Brother Osberg's role as captain of this enterprise, with a million-dollar budget and a 25% annual turnover in members every year, cannot be understated. The active Chapter would still function if the Alumni Board ceased to exist, save for the role of house manager that Grant has presided over since the Chapter Reboot year of 2008. Brother Howard Strickler '63, now the longest-serving member of the Alumni Board, shares this tribute to Grant's influence and importance: As a longtime Alumni Board member, when I received the news that Grant Osberg was resigning, it was like a gut punch. This milestone is personally devastating for me and all our Board members. Grant's contributions to the well-being of our Chapter are innumerable. His primary focus was overseeing the day-to-day operations of a deteriorating, olderTemple. This often involved a hasty but effective fix for the occasional near-catastrophic issues such as leaks from the second-floor old bathroom plumbing into the ceiling of the living room and library or a breakdown of critical kitchen utilities, such as the walk-in failing and threatening the sanity of Jen. The list goes on: leaky roof, old electrical outlets, boiler repairs, multiple fire alarm system failures, and more plumbing repairs. Grant found time to take care of issues like keeping insurance premiums up to date, paying taxes, and assisting the house treasurer in his financial duties, which speaks to the special Brother that Grant has been to us all. Most importantly, all this was done in Grant's very low-key manner. He never sought recognition or credit for all the work that he had done. He put ADPhi first and all else second. He constantly advised the Alumni Board on what was needed, seldom if ever complained, instead choosing to focus on daily, weekly, and annual problem-solving. Moreover, Grant is an incredibly honest, moral person. We are deeply indebted to him. THANKS, AND A SUPER XAIPE TO YOU, BROTHER OSBERG.
