Building for Financial Stability In establishing financial stability for the Chapter, we are beginning an annual fundraising tradition. We are in the process of setting up our new online giving platform. There, you can make one-time or reoccurring donations as you see fit using a credit card or direct checks. Funds received may be tax deferred or otherwise, but non-tax-deferred contributions are temporarily a priority as operational needs are critical. We understand there can be the potential for donor fatigue, especially after our capital campaign. An annual campaign is the best way to secure the investment we all made toward the remodel of the Chapter House. More information and justification for needs will be forthcoming soon. Please remember, the commitment to our Brotherhood needs to supersede any reluctance. We are committed to building and maintaining the most outstanding fraternity at UW as well on the West Coast. Washington Alpha Delt Washington Alpha Delt e e A PUBLICATION OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST ALUMNI OF ALPHA DELTA PHI • FALL 2023 U ndergraduates weren't the only Alpha Delts with a busy start to the academic year. The PNWAADP is now two years into the third stage of the "Reboot, Rebuild, Sustain" model that has defined this era for the Temple. To "sustain" Sustain is defined by annual pledge classes of 30-40 young men and academic accomplishments consistently ranking in the top five in the Greek system. It also involves a living environment connecting and strengthening fraternal bonds and an alumni presence that responsibly manages the facility (that you contributed to during the Rebuild phase) while providing support to and mentoring active members each year. Alumni Guidance Board members David Gilluly '16 and Zach Williams '16 recruited a group of approximately 15 young alumni to be the initial wave of mentors for undergraduates. These alumni come from a variety of professions and are available for casual electronic contact as well as in-person meetings. This sets a great tone for productive engagement between actives and alumni that has been sorely lacking. If you have an interesting career story to tell or want to help actives on their paths beyond campus, please contact David or Zach to discuss further. See page 8, Professional Mentorship Program. Eells Cup 2023 October was also the renewal of the Eells Cup Memorial Golf Tournament on the Friday of Dad's Weekend (Homecoming). Even though the field was just 60% of target, the track at Jackson Park in north Seattle was in very good shape with amazing weather. Chris Guise '94 and Kevin Kane '94 (of golf-events.com) again organized an efficient but casual best-ball tourney. There was a definite brotherhood vibe solidified by the solo bagpipe salutes by our own Mick Jordan '22! Despite the off-season timing, more than $2,000 was raised for the ADPhi Foundation to rebuild the undergraduate scholarship fund. The happy hour and awards dinner at the Temple was a great way to wrap up the day. Eells Cup 2024 is getting set for mid-May, so watch this space for more info. Board Members Visit the Temple We were honored to host the International ADPhi Board of Governors meeting in late October. The Temple looked great, and more than a dozen actives and alumni sat in for the day's agenda. It was interesting to hear firsthand what International is involved in. There were several productive discussions with all attendees about items that will benefit Washington Chapter, along with some strategies that will be passed along for the "good of the order." Members of the International Board of Governors and executive office staff gather on the roof deck of the Washington Chapter House at the conclusion of the house tour. Staying involved aS alumni How We Sustain Washington Chapter (Continued on page 2) Kevin Vashe '91, Andy Tempelis '91, Todd Barnard '91, and Jeff Jones '93 gather at the Eells Cup.
