www.alpha6294.com Alphabet A lpha Chapter of Theta Xi has been reaping the rewards of our hard work during the fall 2023 semester. We commenced this term with over 40 active brothers, including 25 brothers residing in the house, marking the first time since COVID-19 that the house has been so replete. During the first half of the fall semester, brothers actively participated in a variety of recruitment events, engaging with sophomore students keen on forging connections with our fraternity. These events included mini-golf, Thursday Night Football, and a pickup dodgeball tournament, which led to the induction of three sophomores for the fall. Moreover, they successfully engaged with numerous enthusiastic freshmen in anticipation of freshman formal recruitment in the spring. Throughout the semester, brothers maintained consistent engagement with the RPI community. In the first week of school, members volunteered as crossing guards for the RPI student body to promote cautiousness when crossing two of the campus's busiest intersections. Also, a philanthropic block party was organized at the end of that first week featuring yard games, a barbecue, and a 50-50 raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Furthermore, brothers actively participated in tabling events around campus, raising more than $100 for the local Troy Fire Department. More events, including our annual Oakwood Cemetery Cleanup (which includes the gravesite of Founding Father Nathaniel Henry Starbuck, 1867 (A8)), took place during the latter part of the fall semester. Special acknowledgment goes to our recruitment chairman, Paul Kratsios '24 (A1778), and community relations chairman, Brett Miller '24 (A1781), for their tireless dedication to our community. Thanks to the generous support of our alumni association, Alpha Chapter has the privilege of enjoying a fully renovated kitchen in our chapter house. Additionally, the brothers have initiated improvements of their own, such as installing a security camera system. To conclude on a personal note, being a member of Alpha Chapter has been an extraordinary experience. The house remains vibrant with the addition of over 20 brothers initiated last year. Since my own initiation, our chapter has doubled in size, encompassing both total brotherhood and brothers residing in the house. The friendships I've cultivated and those I will continue to develop in my final year at RPI are sure to endure a lifetime. The future of Theta Xi is entrusted to a chapter of remarkable young men.
