THE TOMAHAWK 2 Alpha Mu Chapter Strengthening Traditions of Success I n the spring newsletter, I commented on our members' high spirits and devotion to building the best chapter we can I am happy to report (near the end of my term) that Alpha Mu is in a better spot than I've ever seen, and I believe it will only continue to grow and improve A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE Thanks to the recruitment efforts of Kode Banwart '24, our chapter has reached a total of 70 members, initiating 20 this semester with five already committed to pledging in the spring This new class is motivated to succeed academically and aid the chapter with their talents This growth gives us a fantastic problem: too many people want to live in the chapter house! That speaks not only to the recruitment efforts of Kode but also the welcoming home environment we have built BUILDING A BROTHERHOOD Our executive team strives to maintain tradition while ensuring our pledge process is relevant to today's brothers Chaplain Finn Barney '25 has made several ceremony updates to create a more special experience Marshal Tyler Maral '26 has also adjusted the new member process to build not only individual gentlemen but also a cohesive team ready to work together as lifelong brothers Together, the two of them have brought about traditions new and old, making the decision to join Theta Chi a more profound experience than ever BOOKED AND BUSY Theta Chi has had more registered events than almost any other fraternity on campus this past semester Brotherhood Chairmen Evan Murnane '26 and Logan Engebretson '24 have planned many gatherings, ranging from a combine to other unique recreational activities in and around Ames Social Chairman Ashton Belknap '26 has planned a variety of social events to help foster connections across the ISU Greek community; as our connections grow, so do our positive impacts Thanks to the philanthropic efforts of Josh Uehling '25, we are on track to break fundraising records for fall philanthropy ASSISTING AND LEADING ON CAMPUS I am so proud of our brotherhood for offering an assisting hand wherever needed on campus Brother Kode Banwart has recently taken a director position at Men for Fraternal Excellence, an organization within the Greek community that raises awareness and provides resources for men's mental health Brother Chris Banwart '24 held office as the IFC vice president of recruitment, helping grow fraternities and sororities at Iowa State Our brothers have even more leadership roles across campus, in the athletic department, and in the Greek honor society Order of Omega As my time as president draws to a close, I am incredibly proud to be a Theta Chi I find myself looking back at our chapter house's history—from fires to a pandemic—and I am forever grateful to all who have kept Alpha Mu moving in the right direction Without them, my brothers and I would not have been part of the incredible success story our chapter continues to write I can't wait to see where it goes from here Fraternally, Caleb T. Askelson '25 Chapter President calebask@iastateedu Chapter Goals ● Continue to grow our membership ● Continue to push and support our brothers ● Help more members attain leadership positions around campus WELCOME, NEW MEMBERS Dimitri Anderson '27* | Mound, Minn.
