ALPHA AVALANCHE | TEXAS ALPHA | PHI KAPPA PSI | | FALL EDITION 2023 GROWING IN SIZE AND CHARACTER PHI PSI LONGHORNS VALUE CONTINUED SUCCESS Texas Alpha is in the midst of another strong semester, riding the highs of an incredible football season and some great chapter accomplishments of our own. We've stayed in good standing with the university while seeing increases in chapter G.P.A., alumni engagement, campus involvement and chapter size – all accompanied by cherished traditions, both old and new. Fall 2023 began on the heels of a successful rush cycle led by Richie Raclaw '21, who helped secure a class of over 60 men from across Texas and beyond. Thirty-six percent of these men are in the McCombs School of Business, while another 26% are in the Cockrell School of Engineering. In addition to increasing our chapter G.P.A. to 3.47, we have remained engaged across academic and extracurricular opportunities. Several brothers studied abroad this past summer, such as Quinn Hardesty '21, who studied corporate finance and valuation at the London School of Economics. Brothers also hold leadership positions in the Undergraduate Business Council, IFC, Management Consulting Association, Liberal Arts Honors Association, Longhorn Investment Team, Silver Spurs and several more. We've enjoyed continued philanthropic success, having recently won a Greek fundraising competition for Austin Pets Alive. Additionally, the chapter donated its fundraising total of $6,000 from last spring to the National Alliance on Mental Illness in memory of Charlie Hadsell '18. The philanthropy committee, led by Maurits Deman '21, is planning our third annual casino night in addition to facilitating weekly hands-on service opportunities for all brothers and new members. Socially, the brothers have enjoyed tailgates and watch parties for every football game, accompanied by barbecue courtesy of the Phi Psi Pitmaster team (more about that on page 8). Our Bid Day and Phi Psichedelic parties were both great successes, and we're looking forward to Parents Weekend and our winter formal coming up. The brothers are also VERY excited for the highly anticipated Founders Day banquet, honoring Texas Alpha's 120th year at The University of Texas next February. Hope to see you there!
