I love getting to know them each year as they bring fresh energy and excitement to the house. Fall is a busy time with formal recruitment, Bid Day, sisterhood events, initiation, swaps, date parties, and game-day meals. Meal service is also a big part of the girls' experience. Our kitchen staff, led by Chef Victoria, does a great job of preparing delicious, healthy meals. Our staff works hard to ensure that everyone's dietary needs are met. Please follow us on Instagram at @KDKuisine to see some of our incredible meals. In the spring, we are looking forward to Parents' Weekend, February 23-24. We will be hosting a brunch on Saturday, and parents will have an opportunity to tour the Chapter House. I am here at the house every day, so reach out if you need anything. My email is bfharrison1@ua.edu. Parents are welcome to visit the house with your daughter when you are in town. Alumnae are also welcome—please let us know when you would like to schedule a time to visit. Come see us, and Roll Tide! Love in AOT, Barbara Harrison House Mom Ready for Another Wonderful Year Updates from Our House Mom K appa Delta is saddened to share the passing of Betty Bailey Shirley '49, a devoted member of our Chapter who dedicated much of her life to our sorority. In addition to her efforts toward Kappa Delta, Betty advocated for mental health and provided support for children with disabilities. Along with her husband, she began the Crossing Points program at UA. We still enjoy our partnership with this amazing outreach. In 1991, President George H. W. Bush appointed Betty as one of his one-thousand Points of Light for her work to aid the Tuscaloosa community through volunteer work. Betty's light continues to shine through her legacy of remarkable love, service, advocacy, and faith. "1927-2023 Let YOUR light shine!"
