EMBRACING NEW EMBRACING NEW BEGINNINGS BEGINNINGS The Ivy 3 "L "L unch is ready!" Claudine, our cook, used to yell that welcome announcement over the intercom in the '70s and '80s. Remember the anticipation? In the years since, lunchtime enthusiasm has remained unchanged, and unfortunately, so had the kitchen. Remember the linoleum, the accordion bifold door, and the red wall? Our kitchen was long overdue for a complete renovation! Remarkably, we completed this work over the summer—from the minute the women left in the spring to the week before they returned this fall! I am also thrilled to share that the project was completed on time and on budget thanks to incredible project management by HCB member Nancy Weinert. Make sure to check it out next time you are on campus! There's a New Kitchen at 616 M.A.C.! A s we bid farewell to warm summer nights and embrace the beauty of fall in Michigan, I am delighted to bring you the latest updates from our beloved sorority. In the spirit of sisterhood and progress, we are thrilled to share the highlights and accomplishments that have defined our chapter over the past few months. HOME MAKEOVER We were lucky to be able to redo the entire kitchen, and it looks fabulous. Construction workers worked hard to finish by move-in day, and we are so happy they were able to do just that! The pledge class of 2022 were the first to enjoy the renovation after moving in at the end of August. MONUMENTS AND TRADITIONS Not only did we get a new kitchen and new live-ins, but we also had the honor of unveiling the historical marker that is now displayed in the front of our lawn. Our chapter also had the opportunity to venture to Camp Alpha Phi again in preparation for recruitment. This was our second year doing Camp, and it was even better than last time! The bonds that developed between sisters and the countless activities and laughs shared were unforgettable. I, for one, really hope this tradition lives on. FALL RECRUITMENT In September, we welcomed the newest members into our Alpha Phi family, and it was the most magical recruitment I have ever experienced. The energy was unbeatable throughout each day. Here are the highlights: · Spirit Day Video – Highlighted special information about our chapter and historical facts. · Philanthropy Day – We talked about all things Women's Heart Health, from the Red Dress Gala to fundraisers during Heart Health Week. · Values Day – We shared what we value as a chapter and as individuals and discussed upcoming sisterhood events while giving our new recruits a house tour. · Preference Day – The sophomores and juniors surprised the senior class with their own Preference Day Ceremony, an experience they missed out on because of COVID. · Bid Day – Our fall 2023 theme was Alpha Phi Classic. The event featured live horses, a photo booth, tacos, ice cream, and our own Allie Nowacki '21 as DJ. Thank you for continuing to support our sisterhood as we look forward to another excellent year with our newest pledge class!
