3 48 Men in a Four-Man Scramble Our spring quarter was as busy as always. We started the quarter the best way possible: with a brotherhood golf tournament at Jackson Parish Golf Course! Our makeshi trophy is made from an old lamp, a rubber snake, a rusty wedge, and a can of gold spray paint; however, this has become one of the most highly sought-aer awards in the chapter! Crawfish and Brotherhood Bonding A few weeks later, we got all our guys together and hosted a brotherhood crawfish boil. It's amazing how fast over 300 pounds of crawfish can disappear! e next weekend, our chapter loaded up on a charter bus with their dates and headed down to Panama City Beach once again for formal! Formal weekend never disappoints— except for the horrible sunburns! Once we got back from the beach, it was time for Seven Seas. ere is no better way to end the school year than lining the backyard with bamboo, building a wooden ship, and renting a foam machine. Putting in the Work… I hope those last two paragraphs made you reminisce about the crazy fun times you had in college; however, we are not a chapter that is only focused on having a good time. is past April, we hosted a raffle to raise money for MedCamps of Louisiana, a summer camp experience for kids with disabilities. Many of our members have dedicated their summers to serving as counselors for these kids, and MedCamps means a lot to Eta Zeta Chapter. rough our raffle, we were able to raise over $12,000 to help build accessibility ramps and improve their property for the upcoming summer. …and Being Recognized for It! In May, Louisiana Tech named Sigma Nu Greek Chapter of the Year for our excellence in philanthropy, academics (GPA 3.25), and brotherhood. Along with that, senior Graham Clary HZ1351 was nominated for Greek Man of the Year, and junior Brennan Barber HZ1388 won Greek Ambassador of the Year. Strong New Faces Our chapter started the 2023-24 year strong with 84 gentlemen. At the end of September, we put on the best and most professional recruitment I have witnessed in my four years in Sigma Nu. With the strong work of Recruitment Chairmen JT Dixon HZ1394, Adam Smith HZ1429, and Dane Stearns HZ1431, we were proud to welcome 55 new brothers into our chapter! While we believe in quality over quantity, we sure did get a lot more guys than everyone else on campus. We are excited to see what the pledge class of 2024 has to offer for Eta Zeta! Please reach out if any of us can ever be of assistance to you. We are looking forward to another great year!
