GFWC Arizona ViSaWen Women's Club WELCOME BACK Well, it's back to work for the ViSaWen Women's Club now that September has come and gone. As you've all learned by now, the Dick Wick Hall festivities as we've to love and enjoy, will not be a part of our fall traditions...at least for this year. Hopefully, some energetic communityminded locals will take up the challenge and get it reestablished. I'm sure the ladies will find some method to get home- made pies to our many friends who are notorious for snapping them so quickly. NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE GFWC has set September 30, 2023 as their National Day of Service. This program is designed to work with other organizations to end food insecurities in the commu- nity. ViSaWen chose to collect and deliver non-perishable items to the McMullen Valley Food Bank. For- ty-three pounds of food, valued at $72.00 was turned over to the Food Bank at the end of our food drive. GFWC-AZ SWD ZOOM MEETING Three ViSaWen club members par- ticipated in a GFWCAZ Southwest- ern District Zoom meeting on Sep- tember 21st. District Treasurer Bev Owens, Parliamentarian Pat Pisar- ski and ViSaWen President Nancy Eidsmoe were on hand to help plan the GFWC-AZSouthwestern Dis- trict Convention next March. This event will be hosted by the GFW- CAZ Quartzsite Women's Club. HOLIDAY BAZAAR This event is still being planned. November 11th is the date of the Club's annual Holiday Bazaar. Remember, this is also Veterans Day and members felt it would be a good combination for our annual sale. Watch for a Red White & Blue Holiday Bazaar theme at the sale. More will be announced as plans are finalized. NEXT MEETING The first busi- ness meeting is set for October 5th, 1:00 pm in the clubhouse located at 66918 Avenue C, Salome, AZ. Dues for the 2023-2024 year are now pay- able. GFWC-AZ ViSaWen is open to all women who wish to volunteer in pursuit of helping better our com- munity. See any club member for an ap- plication; business meetings oc- cur September through May on the first Thursday. Monthly socials begin in October and are normally on the third Thursday. Members gather every Monday at 10:00 a.m. to socialize and work on projects throughout the year. The clubhouse is located right behind the McMul- len Valley Fire Station.
