The Annual Halloween Caravan for the children of Quartzsite was held on October 30 th this year, and it was another great success. The kids went through the gymnasium at the school where they went from table to table picking up candy from the many businesses and groups who participated before they boarded the busses for their trip around town. There were almost 200 kids and parents who boarded the buses, who were then escorted by the Fire Dept. and Police Dept. personnel to the many stops along the route. The buses stopped at several RV parks and businesses in town before arriving at the Haunted House put on by the Quartzsite Library at Town Hall. Organizers would like to thank all the businesses and organizations that put out candy for the kids at the school, and also everyone who was on the route at the stops the buses made. A special thanks to the men and women from the police and fire department who helped make this such a safe event for our children by escorting the buses along the way. This caravan has been one of the most popular ways for the children to celebrate this event, keeping them all in one group and making sure that they are safe. Since there are not many "neighborhoods" in town and many of the RV parks are so spread out, it is hard to know which ones would welcome having all the children, this is the best way to ensure that those who do not wish to have trick or treaters running door to door are not bothered. Everyone had a great time again this year, and many of the parents boarded the four busses along with their children instead of driving behind the caravan, making it much easier. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this event another successful time for our kids. This is one event where the town really gets involved with the kids, and it is great! Another great Halloween Caravan! Haunted House Helpers Red Hatters walk for Cancer Research Quartzsite Red Hat Run-abouts walk-a-thon brought in over $1000 for Cancer Research on Sat. D M N 4, 2009 Bonnie well The Annual Hi-Jolly Parade is re- scheduled to Saturday, January 9th. Many conversations concerning the annual parade and gathering have centered around the Town's desire create the "Buck Connor, Pioneer Days". The Hi-Jolly Parade can be an in- tegral activity to contribute to the proposed area-wide celebration and to kick-off each season. Some have felt the Hi-Jolly parade should occur early in November, and in some di- Annual Hi-Jolly Parade changed to Jan. 9 rectories it is listed as November 7th, 2009. But, that also conflicts with the Business Chamber's Expo at the Senior Center. So, the Quartzsite Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with the Town, has rescheduled this season's annual Hi-Jolly Parade to Saturday, January 9th – when many more of our winter visitors are here. Please correct your calendars, and we will attempt to make this season's Hi-Jolly Parade better than ever. Contact 928-927-5600 for info.
