MS Beta Post The Mississippi Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at the University of Mississippi | Fall 2023 Always True to the Wine and Blue Always True to the Wine and Blue O n May 20, 2023, we gathered for the long-awaited dedication of our beautifully renovated Mississippi Beta Chapter house. The event marked the end of six long years of planning, fundraising and construction. Several hundred alumnae and guests joined the festivities, which included facility tours, introductions of special guests, a dedication in the huge chapter room and a delicious catered luncheon. There were plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" as alumnae entered the front doors and saw our beautiful arrow staircase and the gorgeous decor! We welcomed our special guests, Shawn Eagleburger, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and Fraternity Housing Corporation Executive Director, Emory McGinnis Eison '99, Pi Beta Phi Grand Vice President Finance/Housing, Architect William Mills, Walt Swider and Kent Carter of KT Builder, Interior Designer Courtney Peters and Landscape Architect Mark Levy. An additional special guest was Jay Gore, former houseboy and Arrowman, Pi Phi husband and our friend whenever we needed legal advice. We were honored that two members of the original pledge class, Penny Ray Sisson '62 and Sally Hines '62, were present for the festivities. The Reverend Penny dedicated the house to the future of our Pi Beta Phi sisterhood at Ole Miss and the continued support of our mission and core values. Chapter House Corporation (CHC) and Alumnae Advisory Committee (AAC) members were thanked for their dedication and hard work. Alumnae were given an opportunity to stay at the house for the weekend, and several remarked it was so much fun to be back in the sorority house! They hung out in bedrooms and had morning coffee in the dining room in PJs. On Friday and Saturday nights, alumnae joined social gatherings in homes, condos and, of course, at their favorite spots on the Square. I hope you read the article in The Arrow about our recent renovation. Our members were so understanding during the trying times of construction. They adjusted graciously to the changes that had to be made, especially moving our kitchen off campus. The wait was worth it, and they are loving their new home! And speaking of articles, our house was featured in recent issues of Mississippi Magazine and Invitation Oxford. Look for us in a future issue of At Home MidSouth! We sincerely thank Hays Collins for all the beautiful photos he took of the chapter house and the dedication. We are very proud of our chapter house, and we are grateful for the many Mississippi Betas and friends who supported our campaign!
