Football: KSU vs. TCU M any of us joined a Fraternity for the similarities between brothers— Darius Lechtenberger '92 included. But today, Darius realizes it was the diversity of SigEp that prepared him for success. Darius learned of Kansas Beta through his childhood friend Kevin Krannawitter '90, who left KSU for a year to play baseball at Colby Community College. Through Kevin, he met Recruitment Chairmen E.G. Herl '90 and Blake Brownell '90, who signed him up at a Dairy Queen parking lot right before a high school graduation party. "Those three were guys I wanted to be around who had similar interests," Darius recalled. "Ironically, while I was searching for sameness, I found diversity." Kansas Beta introduced Darius to quality people with far different interests and personalities—people he otherwise might have missed in college. The Chapter House structure provided a strong daily structure for campus life, and the pledge process provided the humility he needed to do well at K-State. All these resources prepared him for multiple leadership roles, including chapter president and president of the Greek philanthropy Order of Omega. "These roles taught me responsibility and accountability, with the unique opportunity to try and fail without life-altering consequences." Today, Darius enjoys a career in the energy field, where he serves as president and CEO of L&M Energy Partners and has enjoyed being his own boss for the last 20 years. He's been married for nearly 30 years and is a proud father of two sons who continually keep him on his toes. "Joking aside, I have been blessed with a great family!" Darius lives in Olathe, Kansas, where he loves to "punish himself" by playing golf. He served for two years on the Kansas Beta Alumni Board after graduating, and he hopes to "get back on the SigEp horse" in the future! If you'd like to connect, you can find him at darius@flashpointep.com.
