4 Alpha Eta Chapter Alpha Eta Alumnae Get Togethers! A lpha Eta had a busy spring semester and has jumped right into a thrilling new academic year! Returning from summer break to see our sisters and invite more women into our Chapter is always a rewarding time. This fall, we are back into the swing of things with several sisterhood activities, philanthropy events, campus involvement opportunities and, of course, Tiger football. SETTING PHILANTHROPY RECORDS In April, we hosted our BonnaMu philanthropy event benefiting our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Our Lady of the Lake. The music festival-inspired event was a hit, raising over $95,000; this made Alpha Eta the highest fundraising Phi Mu Chapter in the country! This was also one of the largest donations received by CMN, outcompeting huge companies like Walmart. A BIG PLEDGE CLASS… In August, we welcomed 107 new members! This is one of the largest pledge classes in Chapter history, and we couldn't be more excited. They are all bright, dynamic, talented, and genuine women who seamlessly became a part of our Phi Mu sisterhood. To prepare for such a successful recruitment, we held a Work Week full of themed days and sisterhood activities. We even had a friendly competition between pledge classes to keep the energy high throughout the week. Following Work Week and recruitment, we welcomed our new members with the Bid Day theme "Hotel Phi Mu," which included colorful balloons, swag bags, and nonstop fun. Our new members are incredible and have already made such a positive impact on our Chapter! …NEEDS A BIGGER HOME One of the best parts of being a Phi Mu is living in the Chapter House. Our members are thrilled to see needed improvements coming to our home later this year. This renovation and expansion project is crucial to the future of Alpha Eta simply because we are outgrowing our current home. Fall recruitment increased our total membership to over 370 sisters. We are already pushing the capacity of the Chapter House and must expand so every member can fully enjoy sorority life here at LSU. We all owe something to the women of Phi Mu who came before us. If our founders— Mary, Mary, and Martha—had not laid the framework 171 years ago, we would not have the beautiful sisterhood we have today. By giving back to our organization, we are keeping the spirit of Phi Mu alive for future generations of Alpha Eta sisters. We greatly appreciate the donations received to the campaign so far and encourage all our alumnae sisters to contribute.
